Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Here are the trials an tribulations I went through to remove the gearbox and replace the IMS, RMS and clutch.
Leading evidence: 'Replace ims, rms and clutch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace ims, rms and clutch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am enjoying mine. I have definitely found it a lot lighter in the front end, particularly compared to my old S5, but I am really enjoying. Super stable in the corners.
Continuing on my quest to sort out Archie, the 996, to make it the best daily driver I can, I am adding a new double din head unit with Apple Carplay and a back up camera.

hope the bushfires didn't impact you too much... my in law's are up in Horsnby and Gosford... i'll ping you next time i'm down under to try and catch you for a coffee or a beer...
Hate to be the one to tell you this, but by pulling on the existing IMS bearing in the manner(s) shown in your video, you have most likely damaged both the ball bearings and their cages, which will lead to a quick and catastrophic failure down the road.
All of the knowledgeable IMS retrofit companies will tell you to
never
reuse an IMS bearing after is has been extracted, or attempted to extract, for this exact reason. Once it is stressed and loaded, it has to come out and be replaced.
I am not stressed about it. The bearing was in perfect condition, and I will be replacing it in the next couple of months anyway. I am happy that it will last long enough to get the proper extraction tool.
People freak out about these bearings and if I wasn't doing videos, I would have just left it in there and not touched it.
