I bet you're right, water pump was replaced relatively recently and I have just bought £500 worth of kit to do an electric power steering pump conversion so sods law dictates it wont be the power steering pump

You appear to have missed the bit where i stated that i had replaced all pulleys with genuine Porsche parts.

Water pump was replaced 3 years ago (this is my only worry because a bad water pump is bad news)

Hi guys
I have an intermittent screech coming from the engine which is absent when cold but often is there once the car is warmed up, I realise it is difficult from a video but if anyone has an idea as to what it might be I'd be grateful.
Note: Mehle water pump is 1 1/2 years old.

Noise seems loudest towards the alternator so the idler pulley there is the most likely atm ..
You need to do as already said though and what i do .. almost on a daily basis some weeks .. remove the belt and spin the pulleys by hand .. one will probably make a noise .
Yours is pretty quiet from the video though .. they get much louder !

I'll try that when I get a chance, definately still makes the noise when A/C is off so I'll try putting it on next time.
Would you believe, I have been to 3 recognised indies, spent thousands in servicing etc. and mentioned this every time and the screech is still there!!!!!
So far and these were "definately" the problem ..
All 3 belt pulleys replaced with Porsche items
Alternator replaced
Air con refilled and re oiled (why this would have created the sceeching I have no idea but they said so)
What's left then?
Water pump was replaced 3 years ago (this is my only worry because a bad water pump is bad news)
Air con pump - this is a prospect
Steering pump (if it's this I'm happy because i am replacing the whole system with electric cup 2 system
Can you believe that no Indy can tell me the issue?? all they suggest is random parts that nake them money imo.
I should probably have gone to Porsche, would probably have saved money lol.
If it still consistently squeals at high speed, choose a pulley etc and spray with WD40. That usually stops it for a few days before it returns again. If it temporarily goes you’ve found it, if not move onto the next possible culprit and work your way through the possibilities over the next week or two.
