I had agreed to get the car inspected by a local Porsche specialist prior to committing.

With a few exceptions, if buying through most independents I'd want a Porsche 111 point check before buying.

So, it's a 3yr old car with I presume low mileage and like any other car it's pretty simple to check bodywork and some mechanicals along with a professional check if needed.

I am looking at a 2022 PDK GT4 from an independent dealer. Car does have full OPC history, just the single service + brake fluids at 2k miles. There is no Porsche warranty although I will be looking to get that in place.
Is there anything that I should be looking for when inspecting? I can’t get the 111 point check done for 90 days and there is a dealer warranty, but don’t know what value this is.
Thanks

I bought my GT4 via an independent, I asked them to put into to an OPC for 111 check which they were happy to do. East London Porsche was local to them. It passed. As I wanted put the car on extended warranty I had to go to the OPC to do the paperwork. They wouldn’t allow the car to go back to the independent without the warranty applied. Had it done so, another 111 point check would have been required. Porsche rules but I didn’t have to wait 90 days to get it all done.

just make sure it's >£5k less than an OPC car then. Is it a early 2022 car ?
You can pay for a 111 check any time you like btw.
Is the car dealer owned or SOR ?
Is it a well know Porsche indy ?
Have you seen it yet ?

If you want porsche warranty you need the 111 check. I would wait until i can have one.
When I talked to Porsche they said I need to have owned it 90 days so not sure how I can do much before then.

The dealer has to take it in on your behalf

Current price is what I managed to get OPC car down so would expect at least 3k from where it is.
March 2022.
Dealer owned.
No, generic independent.
No, plan on visiting next few day.
Thanks

So dealer takes to Porsche, they check and I take it with warranty from there?
no it's just a check, you cannot have warranty for 3 months and you will have to pay for another check in 3 months time and then pay for a warranty.
I would NOT buy a Porsche from a back street none Porsche indy myself, not worth the hassle.

Mine was checked and warranty the following week while the car remained at the OPC. No 3 month wait.

lucky i guess. or was that a SOR car. You can do a SOR car straight away.
Depends what checks they do.

I would tend to agree, but it does also limit the pool. Dealer has a superb amount of stock and some serious kit at that. While I appreciate that means very little in terms of individual cars, I would like to think it means something.

It was dealer stock. I know how Porsche work with the 111 point/3 months/Warranty game so you could be right, I was lucky. You don’t ask, you don’t get.
Has the factory warranty expired? If registered in march '22 it will expire this month - you might have a few days left depending on exact reg date. I would expect it easier to apply an extended warranty onto the back of a factory warranty, if it hasn't already expired.

in my experience no, one first has to ask how did they get a Porsche GT car, most sell to Porsche indy or then Ashgoods or part ex back to their OPC for good will etc.
And then what happens if you get a PADM error on the way home at £1300 a pop.
As a buyer you get more protection these days, but for the hassle the car has to be priced MUCH cheaper, no back up , no warranty etc.
IF the spec and price is right, your best bet is a proper inspection by a Porsche know inspection company, the 111 check is worthless anyway imho the checks are rubbish.
may as well post the car up now for a look see.
With a few exceptions, if buying through most independents I'd want a Porsche 111 point check before buying.
I was close to buying an 18 month old 1 owner GTS 4.0 from an independent dealer a couple of months ago. Still with half the manufacturers warranty remaining but I wasn't happy with panel alignment. The dealer was insistent it had never been damaged and agreed to get the Porsche inspection and report back to me. I'm pretty sure it would not have passed inspection but I never heard back from them and a week later it had disappeared from their website. Given I'd made a 7 hour round trip to view the car and multiple calls and emails with them, I can only conclude it didn't pass the inspection or they didn't want to take the risk of getting it inspected and did a deal with someone else to offload it.

Expired unfortunately, only by a few days and has been transferred over to dealer so not possible for previous owner to do extension.
I'd echo the sentiments above. Don't buy without OPC warranty even if it's only for a few months. I bought a GTS 4.0 last year. Not long after it developed an engine fault. Spent 3 months at Porsche, engine out, full strip down, new cylinder head, cams etc. Would've been an absolutely horrendous bill. New engine is apparently c.£40k without fitting. Opened my eyes to the value of dealer warranty on cars like these.

I have agreed in principal that an inspection would be required, but it is still their preferred supplier in that sense, although I do intend to instruct them myself.

I had seen that but also hoped the inspection would alleviate those concerns. It is a shame no Porsche warranty as I do like the car. In fairness, my experience so far has been positive.

I would not buy it personally. It's not even cheap vs an OPC.
OPC turnover is massive a car will pop up, I would wait.
That does appear to be the consensus.
Can I ask, would you consider a car from an Indy that did have full OPC history and warranty? I have my eye on another and have put in a cheeky offer. Similar spec, but manual. It is an SOR car however, but looks clean apart from some gravel rash on lower rear bumper which I would think is expected.

3-months Consumer Rights Act comes into play. Not unusual for dealers to get hold of GT cars especially if they are regularly buying stock from OPCs they'll get an allocation for their 'personal' vehicle. I've seen it.
So, it's a 3yr old car with I presume low mileage and like any other car it's pretty simple to check bodywork and some mechanicals along with a professional check if needed. AIUI Auto100 are a volume seller, price set to move stock on lower profit margins.
I don't know what it is about Porsche buyers I've never known such a risk averse group. I'm surprised you've not warned him about the PDK being a sealed unit and if it goes pop on the way home it's a 5-figure replacement

Yes, no issues really if the deals good, but make sure you want a manual in a 718 GT car over the PDK you 1st looked at.
I really think the PDK wakes the car up a lot having owned both, I would not buy a manual 718 again. But that's a very personal choice. But the 2nd hand values tell you PDK holds far stronger resale and seems more sort after so the reverse of the 2010 era cars where manuals fetch much more money. IN 718 era cars PDK is in far more demand.

After reading all that run away fast OP, NOT worth the hassle
Just buy from a proper Porsche indie who knows what stock they are buying.
The first indie site I checked showed a similar GT4 in stock at a similar price. With Porsche warranty.
Just wait, set the alerts on AutoTrader or with the OPC & one will pop up. It's a common colour too.
But OP to your question, a 111 point check is fine or most Porsche specialists will also take a look at the car in their workshops. Otherwise there are Porsche inspection services. None I've used & therefore can recommend though

12 months ago, yes I'd have agreed. But It's been totally flat for the past 9 months.
Circa 10x cars max over the winter, with only half (max!) of those ever having buckets. The half goes down even more if you want anything else.
A quick this lunchtime sees 12x cars available, only 5x of those have buckets, 1x has CS pack, 3x have PCCB's.
If you want a decent spec car, it's very slim pickings, and that's before you start factoring in other options, miles, colour, gearbox and history.

I wouldn't lump the Emira in this query. Auto100 effectively bailed Lotus out given their massive over supply and failure to shift them though their main dealers. They were I suspect bought cheap and the quality control that would ordinarily not pass muster with a main dealer selling the car was bypassed to move them on. It must have been a rapid deal given that many came with only one key and no V5.
Until the OP actually sees the car in person and gets a feel for the set up and customer support all this is a finger in the air. 'What to look for' can be found across a number of platforms. My experience is they're mainly bulletproof. If the price was right and the car measures up it wouldn't bother me buying from this outfit given all they really offer is point of sale as the car will go elsewhere for servicing etc..
PDK is a great gearbox and a sign of the times that nearly everyone wants an Auto these days, but for a long term keeper I'd still take a GT4 manual especially at the low price point they are a bargain.

I have seen both, and even sat in the PDK. The manual is nice but does not have PDLS which is on my wish list, it’s also 90k. The PDK is comfort spec and a few too many miles. 🙃

I would just buy from a main dealer for 2 years warranty and no hassle with 111 point checks and all that.
Currently at dealer is this which is newer and looks good if the colour suits you.
