Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My problem is the Dash Error, which will clear then immediately come back.
Leading evidence: 'dash error' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dash error' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace alternator the other day, isn't the requlator internal' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As it turns out, it was the engine to chassis ground behind the passenger rear tire.

Also I just replaced the battery, alternator, and belt - no avail.

Since I replaced with a new Alternator from Bosch last week, I assume the regulator is ok.

Suspected cause
Probably a voltage regulator fault, fairly common.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So you don't have one either.
I uses a testor, but what I am trying to do is clear a RED FAULT CODE Battery/Generator.
The reader shows Fault P00621 which referes to a Generator Light.
I can not locate what that fault actually is. Can someone help?
I can clear the fault, but It comes back almost immediately.
Thank you
Also I just replaced the battery, alternator, and belt - no avail.
The regulator I found on Pelican does indeed fit into the back of the Alternator. Since I replaced with a new Alternator from Bosch last week, I assume the regulator is ok. Also I have had no problems with Battery Run Down etc.
My problem is the Dash Error, which will clear then immediately come back.
I am stumped again!
As it turns out, it was the engine to chassis ground behind the passenger rear tire. Funny when I restored
356's and my 914, the bare copper transmission to chassis ground was the first thing I changed out when sorting out the electrics. The bare copper grounds built up resistance and then things went off.
The 997 gave me a battery generator warning light so I chased that first. When it would not clear I went after the grounds. Sure enough that fixed it. Even though they are sealed cables and connectors, the resistance build up was enough for the ecu to not be happy.
I need to stick to the cheap basics first. Lesson learned.
