I have changed the exhaust cans and opened up the induction a little on mine...mainly for noise..lol, but hopefully for a tad more grunt particularly running on V-power too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It has been a month in my C4S. Initial caution has disappeared and enjoying it much more.. Strange thing is, I drive slower than I did in my previous car (1.8L 150 bhp). Perhaps still cautious of cops and others. I had a scary moment when I did about 130mph and did not realise it. Now looking back, I could see my livelihood diasppearing if caught in the act. Hence perhaps more careful. But still, the car makes me smile everyday. Can't see myself going back. Migration info. Legacy thread was 135637

POST 2Original post

I'm two weeks in and driving the car is second nature now, I really believe I am a better driver now having taken time in the first few days to really think about my style and adjust. Smiles per mile! Migration info. Legacy thread was 135640

POST 3Original post

Great one guys, you just need a little while to get used to the car, then come and join us on one of the track days to really explore the car's potential properly! Migration info. Legacy thread was 135667

POST 4Original post

Vishal, I so agree, when you've owned a 911, nothing else will do ! Migration info. Legacy thread was 135681

POST 5Original post

Strange thing is, I drive slower than I did in my previous car (1.8L 150 bhp). I drive slower in the Targa than I do in my Golf too! I've had my Porsche for 8 weeks now and I think a lot has to do with caution, getting used to the car and being more responsible as a road user. In the Golf, I am more likely to undertake someone who I feel is unnecessarily holding up the traffic on a M-way. I'm also more likely to do the traffic light race thing too! In the Porsche I haven't done either (yet). Smiles per mile! - Couldn't agree with you more Jamie. There is just something about driving the Porsche that I can't put my finger on but it's just so hugely satisfying. ~ Maxie Migration info. Legacy thread was 135773

POST 6Original post

Oh dear.... I must be in a minority... since I have had mine(abut 10 weeks), I drive just as quick as in the EVO and do more launches because the car just laps it up and the noise (sports exh and induction)is just awsome. Just cant stop revving it... The way it sounds and holds the road, encourages me...its the voices....!! Spect I will end up paying for it in clutches, brakes and tyres though....oh well. Starting to think I should have bought a GT..... Migration info. Legacy thread was 136064

POST 7Original post

I'm with you Roadhog1. A few months in and I am REALLY driving and enjoying my TT. Discs are due for replacement and the clutch is already slipping (due to the Revo remap  ) but many more smiles per mile than any other car I have driven. The acceleration and handling are awesome but the speeds that you can quickly get up are somewhat worrying at time. It was supposed to be a weekend and fair weather car but the company Jag has hardly moved. Track day next to really find out what it (or probably limited to me!) can now do. Migration info. POST 8Original post

Roadhog1 - what do you think of the 996 performance compared to the Evo? Never been in one but heard they are extremely quick. Just wondered if my '02 996 C4 would keep up? Migration info. Legacy thread was 137167

POST 9Original post

Daniel, EVO's are very quick cars but varied in how quick they actually go! Handling-wise you should be able to keep with a std one in a c4 certainly in the dry... not sure in the wet though.... although I would think so in a c4. EVOs are shockingly good in wet weather...truly astonishing... I am not sure how good c4s are comparatively...somone on here will no doubt comment...lol All this assumes equal driver abilities of course in each car and that the cars have decent tyres and brakes. IMO.... if you had a std EVO 8 320 (say) - (325hp) the performance (though very diff in delivery) is prob very similar. But the EVO would be harder work - keeping it on the boost etc). BUT... EVOs are very tunable and most have had work done on them so typically a 320 might be outputing 380... and would be quicker. Mine's about 360 and is faster through the gears to 100 say... but not by much.. and it doesnt really matter coz its the 40-70 or 50-80 band that prob matters more and my c2 is easier coz the gears are less critical. But EVOs are regularly tuned to 450, 500 and up. I go sprint racing with a Buddy who has one at 600hp... and its lightened...so really flies...scary stuff. In short, any EVO that wants to play, should give you a worthy challenge...!! Migration info. Legacy thread was 137174

POST 10Original post

Sounds to me like any Evo that wants to play should be given a polite nod whilst he overtakes me! My car is very planted in the dry and is quick enough for most people but it doesnt really kick you back in the seats if you know what I mean. In the wet it is generally good but I can very easily get all 4 wheels loosing grip (not just understeer but proper 4 wheel drift) on a fast roundabout in the wet and so I do excersise some caution when pushing the car in the wet. (I do have standard Conti Sport road tyres so not sure how good these are). I really love the C4 as an all rounder and appreciate every moment in it but I sometimes feel like it needs more grunt just to get that amazing feeling that powerful turbo cars give. Problem is I can't afford a 996 turbo and don't want to re-map the C4 or anything as it's under Porsche warranty and I'm not sure this version of the flat 6 is too strong compared to the 964 engine block that is used in the 996 turbo and GT3. Thanks for the info. Dan Migration info. Legacy thread was 137179

POST 11Original post

hmm... interesting Dan. I've got rosso's on mine and they are very grippy in the dry and not bad in the wet either... but I am not sure how they compare to your conti's. Its strange but I was having the same thoughts about having that turbo oomph... too..lol... but as you say, the cost doubles nearly... I have changed the exhaust cans and opened up the induction a little on mine...mainly for noise..lol, but hopefully for a tad more grunt particularly running on V-power too. The other thing I was considering was a remap. You can get one done on a 5 hour free trial (then it goes back to std) its about £600...if you want to keep it and is supposed to give about 15-20 more hp. But, its the better driveability and in-gear grunt that is supposed to be the main advantage. Going back to EVOs again (I am new to Porkers) a remap makes a MASSIVE difference to how the car drives, changes it completely (I do know that turbo cars have a greater benefit from a remap coz of boost etc) but, might do this trial... The good thing is that the mappers say its undetectable by OPC equipment....so the Warranty should be OK. I too have a warranty on mine. Certainly the ECUTEK one for EVOs is undetectable by the dealers. Migration info. Legacy thread was 137243

POST 12Original post

These remaps are undetectable by OPC dealers, after your 5 Hour trial, let us know how it goes and I can put you in touch with the main Revo man for hopefully a good price (or is that just a free smile!) Migration info. Legacy thread was 137249
