Without wanting to slag anyone off there is a garage I would strongly recommend avoiding in Bristol, it's NOT one of those mentioned but if you are thinking of others I'll let you know if it's the one I have issue with....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • PistonHeads: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, My 2006 Cayman S is just coming up for its next (major) service. I've owned this fantastic car since new but it only tends to come out on sunny weekends, and so the car has only covered 24k miles. I've had my local Porsche centre service the car so far, and they do a great job, but they're very pricey, especially now I'm only doing about 1-2k miles per year in the Cayman. Can anyone recommend a really good place to get my next service done? Quality is important, and ideally it would be a nice drive from Bristol! Many thanks, Simon

POST 2Original post

I have always taken my Boxster to Advanced Car Care in Filton who I have always been happy with. Only a vey small workshop with 2/3 mechanics. I have just bought a Cayman S and the previous owner who I know very well used to take his to A P Autocare in Bedminster who he highly recommended so I will probably use them now as they know the car

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the responses so far. I'm happy to go further afield, even up to 100 miles or so, if there's an excellent, Porsche-focused service centre that's a lot cheaper than Porsche Bristol... Simon

POST 6Original post

I used Pro-9 in Redditch. Bit awkward to get to but they restore, rebuild and service racing Porsches as well. 80 miles or so from Bristol according to Michelin maps: http://www.pro-9.co.uk/index.php/contact-us Their prices on the website are a bit out of date but they were still £50 less than an OPC for a minor service for my 986 S. And they kept mine overnight so I could collect the next day. No public transport nearby, but they may do it while you wait.

In that range you're looking at the usual suspects in the SW Ray Northway's in Theale Steve Bull's in Devizes Jon Mitchell's in Verwood.

DKL said: In that range you're looking at the usual suspects in the SW Ray Northway's in Theale Steve Bull's in Devizes Jon Mitchell's in Verwood. Sounds promising - how do you rank the quality of their work (out of 5), and are they much cheaper than the list prices of a Porsche Centre? Cheers, Simon

POST 9Original post

Given that you don't mind travelling a bit, Chris Denning in Cardiff is excellent.

POST 10Original post

Tell the dealer you want a discount/price match or you'll take your money elsewhere. I've never paid full price for anything at the dealership. You might feel embarrassed that they may think you're poor, but proudly point out that it's an S and it has Xenons and that your money pays for their shiny suits and that should dispel any doubts.

POST 11Original post

Neil Garner really knows his Porsches. His workshops are near Malmesbury, so about 40 minutes from Bristol. Here is his fixed price servicing menu: http://www.neilgarner.co.uk/Porsche_specials/

POST 12Original post

I use Porschemode in the centre of Briistol. I have always found them to be very open about work which may need doing and also reasonably priced.

POST 13Original post

Another one for Chris Denning, Cardiff. I'm booked in on the 19th.
