Then, if you want to try it black, you can either use Plasti-Dip or Black (Vinyl) Wrap to do them...Easily reversible either way, and you won't be stuck with black scoops if you decide you don't like them later on...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I ordered a set of the Speedster Style Humps from Suncoast the other day and received them quickly. Photo is a pre fit before going to paint. Was wondering what you 996ers thought of this. On the Suncoast website, the center mount (part behind the seats) were not painted. Was thinking about painting this part as well as the holes in the humps and the humps the same color as my Polar Silver Metallic. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your thoughts......Dennis

POST 3Original post

I would take a couple pics and photo shop some options. I think all silver may be a little too much "hump" some black accents would look good.

POST 4Original post

Can you really ever have too much Polar Silver? Just sayin'...

POST 5Original post

I know this is a 993, but I think the hump can look like a tumor without some accents. This one is just awful. image.jpg

POST 6Original post

I think they look cool and they'll look great painted. How easy are they to remove and install?

Beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder, but... I think that car is beautiful! Jerry Seinfeld's car built by Andial, a one-off 964, yeah?

POST 8Original post

and sorry for the hijack, Dennis, they look really nice and will be cool either way!

POST 9Original post

I think they'll look great painted Arctic Silver. They've got those "scoops" in the sides to add shadow/contrast...They've also got more "lines" than the ones on the 993 (which do look a little too "hump-back-y-" or blob like). It's going to look awesome!

Hi Dennis...Removal is simple. When installing, they have push pins where you line up the humps to the cross member, about 6 or 7. The pins on the humps and the receptacles on the cross member are small and weak. I broke one just fitting for the first time but they do come with spare pins and receptacles. I'll keep this post updated after the painting is done, thanks for your interest.

Dennis, is your hump from this maker: http://www.delavillavrs.com/accessoi...et-996-ou-997/

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12000496

Yes it is, what do you think?

POST 13Original post

The only reason I would want a cab is for those humps. It really looks good, I would paint it silver to make it stand out.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12000513

What do you think? The humps and the cross member behind the seats Polar too?

POST 15Original post

Dennis can we see a pic of the whole car with the black humps? I think you should at least leave some black. Perhaps the cross member and the triangles on the side? Its going to look really good.

POST 16Original post

Definitely, the only part I would keep black are those triangular air vents around the sides black (I guess that's what they would be called). Just like the pic of that 997 above, except I would do the cross member too because if you just leave it black it just blends in with the interior and you cant really see the curves.

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 12000496

this looks awesome, with the back accents

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 12000508

if I had extra $$$, heck yeah it gives the cab a FOURTH "look": no top, soft top, hard top, and now the SPEEDSTER HUMP this will give the cab haters more reason to hate FWIW, someone tried to organize a Group Buy for this last year but it did not get any traction. this video got me really excited HardBack Concept by Delavilla, available for 996 and 997 convertible - YouTube

POST 20Original post

I'd vote for the same use of black as on the white car. In silver it would look perfect. I think your car will be a knock out.

POST 22Original post

Eww, cabriolets! Does this color make my hump look fat?

POST 23Original post

If doing the side "scoops" in black, I'd have the whole thing painted Silver first to see if you like it plain. Then, if you want to try it black, you can either use Plasti-Dip or Black (Vinyl) Wrap to do them...Easily reversible either way, and you won't be stuck with black scoops if you decide you don't like them later on...

POST 24Original post

Personally, I would paint the entire thing silver, including the cross member. I think that one of the design goals of the humps is to make the car appear as though it was built without a top at all, as a full-time open top vehicle. Painting the humps the same color as the body helps to achieve this goal. That being said, the white car pictured above with the black cross member does look pretty nice! I don't think you can lose either way.

POST 25Original post

I never considered buying a cab but this gets me thinking. Looking forward to your final pics Dennis. I also wonder what it would look like to leave the whole thing black and just paint the triangle vents silver? Photoshop time.

POST 26Original post

Just when I thought I was done buying Porsche stuff for a little while... Now you've got me thinking about this...

I'd do this, great idea.

POST 29Original post

^^^ that last pic looks stunning I wish they had these available back when i had my cab. Might of kept it just for that look.

POST 30Original post

Looks like a fantastic product. I like the contrast of the yellow car.

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 12000361

I agree with you!

POST 34Original post

Those look real nice! But, if it were me, I would not paint the whole of it body color (unless the car is black/dark) because of the circled area. That would bug me a lot! Definitely like the contrast shown on that yellow car. Let us know what you do and post pictures. Cheers, -K

You are so right my friend.

POST 38Original post

I think I would leave them black if I had a black interior. With a beige interior, I'd probably paint them body color.

POST 39Original post

Today I passed a silver cab with this on it. Looked nice for the brief moment I saw it.

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A quick pic of my painted humps. I took dporto and Dennis C advise and had it all painted in Polar Silver with I could easily change to black if decided. Alignment questions.....to be continued.

POST 42Original post

I am not a cab guy at all but your car looks great. I am torn as I like the silver behind and between the seat but I would prefer the it black for contrast. I agree with your choice to paint it all silver so you have the option for a wrap if you ever wanted it. Looks great either way though.

POST 43Original post

Wow! It looks awesome... Plenty of shadow contrast in the "scoops"...really no need for black in there IMO. Congrats !

POST 44Original post

I like this a LOT - if I had these I'd drive with the top down more often!

+996 How do you like your rear bumper? Any other pics of it?

POST 47 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have pros and cons. Whenever it stops raining here, I'll post some pics to see both sides.
