Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what make is known to be good for the 996 TT? - Had a UUC on my M5 which was awesome, and fairly reasonably priced, wonder what the consensus here is? thanks Migration info. Legacy thread was 133951

POST 2Original post

Should imagine that there's a Porsche one available - tried Carnewal? Best to stick with OEM if there's one available Migration info. Legacy thread was 133972

POST 3Original post

Do a search on eBay for a B&M one, it's B&M that make the Porsche OEM. I had one in my C4S for 2+ years, a vast improvement over the standard....now do I do it to the GT3? Word to the wise.....it can make cold morning shifts very stiff! Migration info. Legacy thread was 133976

POST 4Original post

Alternatively, go for the Manthey short shift. It's not as aggressive as the B&M one. Manthey version reduces throw by 23%, whereas the B&M version reduced throw by 35%. I've got the Manthey version in my car and it is perfect once warmed up! Astounding billet ally construction too. Migration info. Legacy thread was 133982

POST 5Original post

B&M one on US ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-996-986-B-M-Shifter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33736QQihZ016QQitemZ260108339941QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD2V Current exchange rate puts it at about £45 !!! Now if I could just find one for the 993  Migration info. Legacy thread was 133986

And here's one on UK eBay from Shortex (?) http://tinyurl.com/2vtztv ~ Maxie mod edit>> tip: use TinyURL for shorter URLs! Migration info. Legacy thread was 133991

POST 7Original post

Funnily enough I was looking at this earlier today amongst other things. 8) JZM do the Manthey one at £650 (22% reduction) Parr have two different types - one giving 35% reduction the other 25%. Haven't got the prices yet. Migration info. Legacy thread was 134002

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys - the B&M one looks good - will need to find someone who can ship to the UK. If its good enough for Porsche & Gemballa its good enough for me ;o) and i dont use the car everyday so unlikely to get too frustrating - (ever driven a 348 ferrari!?) The shortex one maybe the impersonating one the bloke on the US ebay is talking about?? cheers Migration info. Legacy thread was 134041
