Disconnecting the battery didn't seem to help but pulling the purple connector off the back of the ignition switch and then replacing it has done the trick for now...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just done an oil change with the car parked outside with the top down. Rain due this afternoon - aargh! I can lock and unlock the car from the remote but I can't get the key in the ignition. Tried wiggling it.. Could it be an electrical fault with the electrical part of the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column once again? I've changed that part once before (a couple of years ago) when I had the key stuck in issue, but I've not had this fault before and there were no warning symptoms leading up to it.. Any other quick fixes? Could I disconnect the battery and leave it 10mins and reconnect? Will now search for tips on getting that top up whilst stuck in this condition....

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Drama averted. Disconnecting the battery didn't seem to help but pulling the purple connector off the back of the ignition switch and then replacing it has done the trick for now...
