Hi I have a weird noise coming from the left rear suspension whenever I slow the car down to almost stand still then I can hear slightly one time "clicking or ticking sound" (like someone hitting the keyboard) from left rear strut. I have removed all left rear plastic covers and tried to identify the problem source with no luck.
The strange thing is my 2011 CS is equipped with
PASM
and the clicking noise only is happened with the normal suspension mode, when I push sport suspension button (harder suspension mode) and the noise is gone?
I think it is not from the brake or transmission because it also happen when I try to the car roll to a stop without hitting the brake then again a "click" noise.
It is very annoying that every time you move and stop the car in bad traffics and hear a clicking noise, any comment? Broken
PASM
strut?
PS. I also got a lot of chunking noise over the continuous paint lines on the road surface from left rear suspension, it only happen when I drive slowly 10-15 mph and this is why I took out the plastic covers and noise insulations and then I got another problem with this weird clicking noise. Do you think it is from the same symtom? Thank you in advance.
Dealer in Thailand is not so experience due to small sales volume of porshce. I had visited them 2 times but chunking noises still there. So I decided to fix it myself with great info from this site.
In the process of identifying the chunking noises I have been able to do the following checks;
- tighten B pillar glass - perfect
- put felt on air filter inner box - perfect
- remove and check left door panel - perfect
- trunk - perfect
- use felt to secure the left electrical cluster to ECU unit - perfect
- check all rear plastic panels - perfect
- remove and secure the air vent on the passenger side
So I though it is the time to check from the left rear suspension, any clue? so I want to pin point the possible problems to the mechanic so they will not mess around with wrong things. Thank you for your input.
I love my CS but the noises from left rear really drive me crazy.
If you haven't already done so, I would suggest pulling the wheel off and making sure you don't have a stone of some type stuck in the brake caliper or in the brake pads. Reports of ticking noise have been made here because a stone got stuck in the wheel/brake assembly. Good luck.
Thank you for your comment. Today I took the car to dealer and they have removed wheel and checked underneath the car to find the possible rattles or noises. They have fixed the heat shield vibrating (but not sure it is the cause of chunking rattling noises yet) however tomorrow they will remove the strut to check the mounting. Will tell them to check the brake pads as well but I doubt it is the cause of a clicking noise problem since there is no noise when the suspension is in sport mode.
The car is running fine but a clicking noise only happen when the car slow down to almost a completely stop. The mechanic open the PET and see the acceleration sensor module in the
PASM
suspension diagram, what is the acceleration sensor do? Could this be the cause of a clicking noise?
The mechanic told me that it is sound like a solenoid activating, for an acceleration sensor /
PASM
. Again, this clicking noise is only exhibited when the car rolling to a complete stop with or without braking.
What do I need to check ?
It may just be a loose connection with the drop links to the sway bars. I had a clicking noise in my front passenger side that sounded similar to a loose ball joint. I took off my wheel and checked to make sure everything was tightened and that one link was just a tad loose. Fixed the problem though
Hi today I remove the left rear strut to inspect, when I push down with my hand and it creates some noise. Is it normal for
PASM
strut to have noise when push down? Do I need to replace it?
I have
PASM
on my CS too and when the link was loose and I pushed down on the car it would create the noise due to the link being loose. Go over all the nuts and bolts in that corner of the car to make sure everything is tightened and torqued. Make sure the nuts at the top of the struts are tightened as well.
Hi I found the source of the problem !
It is the
PASM
strut broken!
Every times that I put the button to change the suspension mode/setting from normal to sport, then it is a click noise from rear left strut however it is only happen when the car is running.
The car is only 2600 miles and I never drop a car in the big hole as far as I remember , however the mechanic say it is a defect from factory and he orders new one for me, it would take about 2-3 weeks to come.
Anyway, I am more than happy to find the source of the problem.
happy CS owner again
Hi.. I seem to have the same problem.
When you say that the PSAM strut is broken, which part is it that is broken and what do you mean exactly by broken?
If you dont change the strut, is it mehcanically safe to drive the car?
