Not OEM but my custom fitted Covercraft (made for 997C2S) fits both my 996 and 997 pretty much the same (very well).

I used a cover from a 997.1S on my 996 40th AE.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello 996's owners I was hoping someone could clarify if a genuiune "Porsche" brand 997 cover also fits a Porsche 996? I was told by the Porsche dealer that this is the case but wanted to verify with some owners on here. I have one for sale but don't want to give out the wrong info. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Not OEM but my custom fitted Covercraft (made for 997C2S) fits both my 996 and 997 pretty much the same (very well). I'd say they are interchangeable.

POST 3Original post

I used a cover from a 997.1S on my 996 40th AE. It was really tight on the corners (probably due to the turbo front bumper) but otherwise fit.

POST 4Original post

I'm on my 3rd oem cover. My second one was from a 997. The key to good fitment is to get the correct 997.1 cover if you want a good fit. The OEM has several variations for turbo, aero, s, etc. this is especially important if you get an outdoor cover as those don't really stretch to make up for improper proportions.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone for the help! Anyway to know what cover I have by this part#? I'm thinking this is just for the 997 non turbo/GT3.

POST 6Original post

Is there any other part number on it? Is there a porsche crest on the front? What color is it? Is there a clear cover for the rear license plate? Looks like you got one of the two tiers of outdoor cover if that is an oem cover.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That was the only part# I could find. Yes it has the colored Porsche crest and clear license cover on the back. Click on my for sale link at the bottom of my signature for more pictures of the car cover. It is silver in color with colored Porsche crest up from if that helps.

POST 8Original post

I'd say a 997 cover will fit a 996 but a 996 cover won't fit a 997 very well. The 997 is the slightly bigger 911.
