I have a 2017
911S
in Pristine condition with only 8,300 miles and I am within 6 weeks of the expiration of the manufactures warranty. I plan on selling the car or trading it in only because I am getting older and with a bad lower back, entering and existing the car is getting more difficult. The car is flawless and has only seen the service department for oil changes. My future plans for replacing the
911
is possibly a
BMW
M8 or M850 convertible. I would only purchase these as a certified pre-owned due to the fact that the depreciation on these models is crazy. I am thinking of holding onto the
911
until I'm ready to purchase my
next
car unless I can sell it privately. If I do keep the car, I want to look into purchasing an extended warranty.
Porsche
CPO prices would be probably in the 5-6k range which would only cover me for a short period of time. Are there any aftermarket warranties that anyone would recommend that would provide good coverage at competitive prices? Any input would be appreciated.
Put the money aside and be disciplined enough to not touch it, use that as a cushion for unexpected repairs. I mean I understand your thinking, my car is exceptionally low mileage too. These cars are not Fabergé eggs, that bad boy is barely broken in. Lastly, I was hit by a car in my youth, I cannot get into coupes either. A drop top will solve that when the top is down 100%.
Despite the low mileage, after 3 years your car would have been up for a brake fluid flush and a check on the expiration date of the tire sealant. In order to get CPO coverage, a dealer would have to do at least the former (maybe the latter) as well as perform a 100+ item inspection. Beware that if you have any work that needs to be performed, such as brake pads over 50% wear, it'll have to be completed before CPOing the car. If you've replaced tires, anything other than N-rated will require replacement (some dealers are stickier than others on this point). Practically, you could sell the car privately pretty quickly, assuming the options on the car aren't outlandish. If you keep it, I'd skip going CPO as it's only another 2 years of warranty and probably not worth it with the limited miles you're putting on the car.
Do my own brake flushes every two years don't use
Porsche
sealant use this: It's water based, it's called tire slime sorry for the "weakest link" I carry it in both vehicles it's cheap to replace every year too.
Yes, I am aware of what
Porsche
requires to CPO a car. They even mentioned Spark Plugs.
