I've done a number of Google searches and searches on this and other sites but I keep coming up cold (most of the DIYs use 986 or A/Cs in the main dash to illustrate the removal).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay, stupid question, but I've got to ask because I'm always nervous about breaking something when I don't have the specs for something I'm working on. I easily popped off the trim in the driver side footwell and removed the Torx screw on that side. After feeling around a bit I also located and easily removed the Torx screw holding the trim onto the passenger side of the A/C unit BUT when I attempt to pry the large piece of trim off, I am getting A LOT of resistance form the front (the side closer to the passenger's body -- away from the frunk). My car is a Carrera 4S with the Bose system so the trim piece is not the same as on the driver's side. Am I just not pulling hard enough to get the trim to release? I'll admit that I'm paranoid about breaking something but I can't find another screw and when I get my arm back there I cannot feel anything that I should be removing. I've done a number of Google searches and searches on this and other sites but I keep coming up cold (most of the DIYs use 986 or A/Cs in the main dash to illustrate the removal). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! -Eric P.S. I'm finally getting around the LCD fix to my A/C unit that I researched last Fall. Crazy winter!
