Has anyone else with a 992 experience an increase in attention? It could possibly be that the turbo models just came out so most people have never seen one before, but I think it’s because the new design is really clean, modern and sharp. Let me know y’all’s experiences below
Hey Porsche10! I get similar attention in my 991 C4S. It probably helps that it's black w/ black emblems, wheels, and dark tint. I can't go anywhere without someone noticing and commenting, asking a question, taking a picture, etc. It drives my wife crazy, but I love it
They are just sexy cars. I'd drive a
911
over a Ferrari everyday of the week. Just superior cars in my opinion. Enjoy your new toy!
There is a high level of conscious projection outside, don't you think? You bought yourself one of the best cars in the world. When I clean up my black 987.2S and the day is right, it's like I have "want to dance?" written on my forehead.
Ahh I see makes sense. I guess the people just like them!
I have the same experience Boski, I let them rip it up, what do I care about the story they're going to tell about how they crushed a Porsche? Sometimes the instigators are just laughable, sure your Hyundai Accent is a sleeper, it would have to be guy. What I find more curious is the
911
snobbery on some social media. One guy said my car was a "toy". When I asked him why the
911
RSR moved it's engine he lost his
_
. Classic 911's are way up in value, I drove my bother's air cooled T, it was sweet but the Spyder would crush it. Does that mean it's a lousy 911? Not in my opinion no way. Also do some of these 911 provocateur's consider driver skill? You think you could post a hot lap in your 911 that would crush Randy Pobst going next in a 987.2 Spyder? PS It's as silly as when people were saying 986 made in Finland wasn't a real Porsche, meanwhile Valmet did a great job making them.
Lol I love the ricer guys who try to tell me that my car is inferior 😂 they always feel the need to challenge me when I didn’t even do anything to bother them. Most people who don’t like
911
’s have never driven one. I used to think they were boring, but once I drove one I was immediately hooked on the kool aid. The car is unique and drives amazing. I don’t listen to the naysayers
911
is a great car, no question. I think the 944 was one of the most fun cars I ever drove if you didn't need A/C. I've never driven a Panamera but I don't have any hatred toward them. I don't care for 924's but I see no reason to be an idiot to someone who likes them. I like seeing all cars at car shows, I saw a really nice Gremlin before "lockdown". Again I don't fancy a gremlin but I could certainly appreciate the care the man had bestowed upon his. I mean my dad's favorite was an Auburn Cord and frankly I can see why he liked it too.
I’ve been able to drive my 992 Turbo S multiple times now very spirited and wanted to give my honest feedback.
first off, this car is just as fast as they say. Mashing the gas pedal in first or second gear throws you back in your seat like no other. It’s amazing how there’s almost no turbo lag and the car keeps accelerating even after shifting gears. There hasn’t been a single car I’ve had trouble passing and everyone who has tried to race me was left in my rear mirror. Highway driving, the car pulls as well. There isn’t a single gear that this car isn’t thrilling to drive in. Although I will say that 8th gear is useless unless you’re testing top speed or trying to save the environment.
Secondly, I wanted to talk about the
exhaust
. Before I got the car I was worried about videos and speculation that said the turbo s sounded like a vacuum cleaner. With my car being equipped with
PSE
, I can safely say that is not true at ALL. The car still has that earthquake ground shaking startup. Once warmed up and the flaps are open it has a nice, loud rumble that I can hear from inside and outside the car as well. When you actually drive the car it sounds very very nice. It has lots of backfire in sport mode and when you accelerate that flat 6 turns on and it definitely is heard by others on the road. It’s definitely not as much as a screamer as a Gt3 is, but IMO it still sounds like a super car and the
exhaust
turns heads (although you do have to get it past 3krpm to really hear the flat 6 howl). I might get sport cats to open it up a bit more, but trust me you won’t be disappointed with the
PSE
it’s 10x louder than the
exhaust
videos on YouTube.
Thirdly I wanted to mention the usability and non performance aspects. The interior is gorgeous!! I love it so much. 992
Carrera
owners already know this but Porsche really modernized the interior on the 992 turbo in a good way without losing subtle enthusiast elements like the analog gauge cluster, iconic
911
seats, physical buttons in the middle (that are very high quality and fun to press by the way) etc. The infotainment is truly top notch. There’s so many different configurations and settings that I can’t even list all of them. Everything looks so much newer and high tech than the competition (even cars such as Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Ferrari) (although Ferrari’s new sf90 and Roma interiors are probably better). Fit and finish is Porsche. The seats and trims are very sturdy but comfortable at the same time (I have no clue how the seats are so stiffly put together yet feel so comfortable). The exterior is stunning in my unbiased opinion. The cars stance is so wide and aggressive now, that it’s hard to call it “just a
911
”. I would have liked stickier
tires
for performance reasons, but the
Goodyear
’s have not disappointed either.
lastly, I wanted to mention the experience. I made a post earlier about the increased attention and I’ll briefly touch on that again. Every time I take the car out I get tons of attention. Lots of stares, pictures, “rev it for me”, “let’s see how fast it is”, more stares and random cars trying to race me. The experience has been great. No negative energy coming my way, although I’m sure there are some people who will disagree with the speeds I have reached on public roads lol. But in all seriousness, I think people really are excited about this car and love to see mine (I’ve only seen 2 other 992 turbo’s in my area). I haven’t had any mechanical issues as well. Nothings broke or wrong. No check engine lights no leaking oil etc. The car does have a really strong smell to it though, however this is a common characteristic of all
911
’s and it’s even more pronounced on newer cars and I assume when I pass 5k miles the smell will soften up a bit but it will always still be there.
overall, this car exceeded my expectations in every way. I was hesitating about spending $225k+ on a non GT
911
, but to be honest the performance of this car, along with the unique design and surprisingly good
exhaust
note truly makes it better than anything else in its price range. It’s really competition IMO is the mclaren 720s, F8 tribute and Huracan, all of which are much more expensive and slower and less practical. Yes the car is very pricey, but it really is a step up from the Carreras and if you spec the TTS the way you want, I can assure you will have no regrets. The car truly is worth every penny.
There's NO QUESTION about it, P10! You absolutely bought the right car in my opinion. The TS is an absolute monster... MORE than just competition for the cars you list. If only I could bring myself to pay that price (which is really amazing for what you get)... until then I'll live vicariously through you and my friends in the PC!
