Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care on the bellows section on mine and the noise decreased by a fair margin.
Leading evidence: 'Use autoglym vinyl and rubber care' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Should I use a lubricant (such as vaseline) to solve this problem?

That spray has all sorts of uses - so hold on to it!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All - I was demonstrating to family over the weekend how the rear air-spoiler can be operated from the switch in the driver's footwell (after So Poo told me where to look for it - thanks!). However, as I was doing so, I was painfully aware of the groaning noise being emitted as the spoiler was being raised or lowered.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this just the surfaces rubbing against one another? Should I use a lubricant (such as vaseline) to solve this problem? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Have never really noticed any groans, but sprap more silcone spray on and see if that helps (silcone is probably better than vaseline!).

Silicone Spray it is then So Poo. Thanks! Hopefully Halfords will stock this item as I have never heard of it before.

993 spoiler makes a lot of noise too, its the bearing in the drive mechanism and is a relatively simple DIY fix, could well be same issue.

Silicone Spray did the trick! Parked in the Halfords car park, most of the staff had their eyes on me (as did their customers!) as to what I was doing; raising the spoiler first, spraying moving the parts, and then lowering the spoiler (this time without the sound). Job done!

Thanks for the tip again So Poo. All sorts of uses....What else for? Door hinges perhaps? Boot and Engine lids too? Oh, off topic perhaps, but is flashing your lights at other Porsche drivers a bit gay? If so, I'd better stop doing it then...... :?

Hi Maxie,
It is also good for getting rid of the very loud squeeks when opening the electric windows, well that is what my 996 C4S keeps doing

Dunno about the flashing lights- on the whole, 993 drivers were a more enthusiastic bunch. 996 drivers tend not to be, and theres nothing worse than an unreciprocated flash so I don't tend to bother! I have been acknowledged by a 964 and a Boxster so far, but that's it.
On the whole, modern 911 drivers are a miserable lot.

i see very few porsches to flash.... sigh.... there is an old targa who i did get a response from though.... but i mainly see him in the golf.....

He probably thought you were thinking "you paid HOW much for a Boxster with a roof? You could have bought a 911 for that..."
