Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've this intermittent issue with my gen2 3.6. Around four times out of ten when I start, it jumps up to one and half thousands revs and then drops down below one thousand, nearly stalls and then goes back to around just over one thousand before settling down normally just below one thousand. Only does it when cold. I have cleaned the maf sensor but still the same. Anyone know what the issue could be and how to remedy it? Cheers Mark

POST 2Original post

POST 6Original post

Try a throttle body recalibration, especially if you've removed the maf.

How do you do that? Cheers Mark

Found it, I'll give it a go. Cheers.

POST 9Original post

Open rear lid, open drivers door, turn ignition on but don't touch accelerator, leave for 50 seconds and you'll hear the TB clicking. Turn ignition off for ten seconds. Turn off and then start the car. It's important that this is done when car upto temperature. The driver door must be open too and the engine cover. Cured my erratic idle although she wasn't cutting out and I also cleaned the maf. It may help, good luck.

I've tried the above when the car was cold. Still the same. I'll try it next time I'm out in it and it's up to temp. Cheers Mark

Did you hear any clicking from the TB...?

POST 12Original post

I presume the electric throttle cars don't have an idle control valve? My old 98 did this and it was just the idle control valve needed cleaning out. I removed it from the intake and powered it open with a 9V battery, then got an old toothbrush in there with plenty of carb cleaner. It was filthy.

Yes I did, left it for a minute. Started it and the same.
