Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
The EVOM intake is probably the best plug and play solution i.e.
Leading evidence: 'best plug and play solution i.e' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best plug and play solution i.e' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Posting from Australia where parts are hard. How do I over come the fitment issues of placing a 996.1 GT3 Taco which has air intake provisions for the Metzger intake and fan onto a 996.1 Carrera. I've shown the different placements between 996.1 Carrera Aero Taco and the Metzger Taco. Is the answer in Metal fabrication? Or using a K and N "hot air intake" or fabrication of a different cold air intake? If you've done this I'd like to know. Thanks in advance.
I've had a fibreglass GT3 RS decklid on my carrera as a 'temporary' fit for about 7 years now
I do intend to resolve the intake and fan placements later this year as part of a series of bodywork jobs, but till now I simply purchased a second/spare intake snorkel and trimmed about 50-80mm of the tip of it i.e. rather than poking through the intake slot it can share and 'breathe' through the purge fan housing - in the UK the purge fan almost never kicks in and even when on its not going to compromise the air intake under any kind of load
Before this I did fit a GT3 version K&N with a modified intake pipe to cope with the different orientation of the throttle body... but the car was never 'happy' and there was genuine heat soak of the intake from the rest of the engine bay
I'd go with a trimmed intake snorkel and fitting the decklid until you figure out and action a full solution. The taco wing is iconic enough to be worth the compromise and grief
Thanks for your advice. The only other solution I've been given was the K and N. My engine is a sweet one with LN 3.8 Nickies. I have 3 radiators so I was questioning the role of the purge fan. The shortened intake snorkel sounds the best idea so far. Any Taco wing is hard to get here so I bought without thinking it through but a short snorkel, is hardly major fabrication. Much appreciated.

I wonder if this CAI unlike the K and N places the Airfilter nearish to the GT3 air duct. Also compliments on your own 996 RUF body kit and mileage milestones.
The EVOM intake is probably the best plug and play solution i.e. that wouldn't require any cutting of the decklid itself - negatives are the price and the look/quality - general consensus is at least that it is a better set up than the K&N offerings
I'm still looking to maintain more of an OEM look and finish. Ultimate plan is to reintroduce the carrera intake and fan location whilst keeping the GT3 corner air feed, given the 996 airbox is finned and there is a secondary breathing point on the underside of it. I'm not sure if this is going to be easier or harder with a fibreglass rather than metal decklid(!)
Searching on Rennlist someone has done the Evoms with a GT3 996.2 lid. Ideally I would scrap the passenger side intake and fab a nicer intake to the GT3 air intake. Or scrap the fan.
