If there are any Porsche Techs out there, was this a useful upgrade at that time or really nothing has changed but a new bolt and still prone to the same issue as everyone else ?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Guys I have a 2001 c2 with 28 k miles . I have full warranty and i went through all my records and noticed that in 2004 the RMS was changed for the second time and the following was done as well [B]IMS Bolt replacement and the description mentions a long bolt as preventative maintenance. DOES THIS REALLY MEAN anything or do i have to worry alittle less ? I heard of LN Eng + Jake . I still have another 3 years full warranty but all this really bothers me . If there are any Porsche Techs out there, was this a useful upgrade at that time or really nothing has changed but a new bolt and still prone to the same issue as everyone else ?

POST 2Original post

Thank You. So i guess i am still in trouble. It is incredible this whole situation, a 100k price car with all this ims crap. Thank You I will stick to the warrany, How long has this LN ENG been replacing IMS ?

Why are you in trouble? The vast majority of cars have no problem with either RMS or IMS. Stop worrying and enjoy your car - especially since you have a warranty anyway. Sometimes the Porsche forums (and other forums as well) do a disservice - since enthusiasts spend the most amount of time on here, and every single problem gets dissected ad nauseum, engine failures appear to be much more common than reality. Yes, it happens more than it should, but the data you get from forums is probably skewed, because you never hear from the thousands of Porsche owners who don't ever have a problem, do you?

POST 5Original post

If you have a warranty than you should not really make any non-factory changes, If you have an issue your warranty claim could be denied because of these "upgrades"
