I'm running 8 1/2 x 18 inch wheels on the front with 2.7 deg of camber.

Slight rubbing on the fender liner on full lock in the front, the 235/40 Yok has wider tread width than RE71’s in same size I used previously.

Suggestion
Until I go to 9F/11R rims from my 8F/10R rims, I plan on running Falken 660s which seem to be great 200 tires.

Suggestion
Hard to tell, but my concern would be the inner lip where the bumper and fender meet - mine is heavily clearanced for 305/35 NT01 running relatively modest ride height.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for some help with tire sizing. I have 11 x 18 inch wheels on the rear.
The Hankook RS4 is getting really good reviews for street and track use, but the rear comes in 295/40 as opposed to 295/35 or 295/30.
What is the general consensus going with this large a diameter?
Front would be 245/40.
FWIW, have you though about running the Nittos? They would fit and look to be very fast and durable? I think Jason and De Jeeper run them. Until I go to 9F/11R rims from my 8F/10R rims, I plan on running Falken 660s which seem to be great 200 tires. Then I will most likely go to Nittos. The other option would be proxies, but they are (1) loud as he'll, (2) are very sticky for the first half of a session and then get very greasy the 2nd half, but they would fit.

295 40 18 is too large imho. Over 27 round.
I have the RS4 in stock size for the 996.1.
Pretty good wearing and descent on the track.
My second set are
Continental Extremecontact Force
Front: 245/35-18 // Rear: 295/30-18
i think the wear is going to be similar to the rs4.
very good resource.

Thanks guys. I was thinking to source the NT01's for this season but I'm planning a long road trip to a couple of tracks in Alberta. Just not sure about the Nittos for that kind of use.
falkens or sport cups may be the only solution that fits if you have a long drive to and from the track. Wouldn't try it with proxies. They wear too damn fast.
OP, what are your front wheel and alignment specs?
NItto NT01s are a great way to go in 245/40-18 front & 305/35-18 rear, however, since you will be driving long distances I would stick to a 200 TW tire.
I would recommend one of the following configurations:
F: 235/40-18
R: 295/30-18
- Yokohama A052
- Factory 996.2 GT3 sizes
F: 245/35-18
R: 295/30-18
- Continental Extremecontact Force

I would second the A052’s. Found them to be pretty consistent, did several Track days with them last year and still have decent tread for this coming season. Also no problem driving to and from the track. Slight rubbing on the fender liner on full lock in the front, the 235/40 Yok has wider tread width than RE71’s in same size I used previously.
Thanks Ryan. I'm running 8 1/2 x 18 inch wheels on the front with 2.7 deg of camber.
Will check out the Yokohama A052 you suggested. Current tire is Yoko AD08R but looking for a more track focused tire. Still need to do a long road trip though.
Yes Im running those.
PB was 3 secs faster than stock size RS4 at Thunderbolt last year.
Average was about 1.5 seconds faster.
It was described to me as an endurance tire. I believe they are coming out with a second version later this year thats a softer compound.
I will be running them mainly for street driving with occasional track days. The fact they are more of an endurance tire is exactly what I would need. Not looking to push the times on track as much as you other guys are.
If you are coming form the Yoko AD08R and want
a faster
, more track oriented compound that can still be used on the street, the Yoko A052, Falken RT660 or the new Bridgestone RE-71RS would be the way to go. The Hankook RS4's are not going to be quicker.
9" front wheels would be a bit more ideal for the 255/35-18 front tires, but you can certainly mount them onto your 8.5's. The 255's up front will improve turn in and reduce understeer closing the stagger from front to rear.
