Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Followed to the letter and it fixed one of the remote fobs, the other one wouldn't play ball.
Just came back from holidays (car parked in garage, locked with the door key) to find my key fob no longer talks to the central locking. Followed the instructions in the owners manual... unlocked the door with the key without opening the door, then pressed the fob to reactivate the remote locking/imobiliser. Red light on the fob lit up continuously but did not talk to the car. Had to remove the key fob battery to cancel the continuous red fob light. It now blinks correctly when pressed but does not talk to the cars central locking/imobiliser system. Both fobs have new batteries, the cars battery was left on a smart charger the whole time. Any ideas? is there a reset of the system that can remedy this?
When I’ve been away for longer than 10 days my key fob fails to work remotely. What I do is unlock and open the drivers door with the key, put it into the ignition turn it to the first position for 5 seconds and then start the engine and that seems to fix the problem.
In the situation where you have been away for some time and the remote doesn't work, I put the key in the door. Turn the key anti clockwise, and press the button on the key fob before removing the key. Comes back to life then.
Remove the fob battery, put it back in the fob the wrong way round for 10 seconds, remove it and put it back in the right way. This resets the fob if it's playing up. Worth a try.
Thanks Alex... another one to try... will wait til tomorrow now just in case it sets off the alarm and gets the neighbours all riled up!! let you know if it sorts it out.
... The fob could have died buddy : really poor design by Porsche, the key has rolling codes which when exhausted the remote function stops requiring a new key and recoding at several hundreds of pounds. Ask me how I know!!!
Excellent, Thanks a lot Alex. Followed to the letter and it fixed one of the remote fobs, the other one wouldn't play ball. The light on the fob flashes when either button is pressed, but seemingly no signal is received by the vehicle as nothing happens. Am guessing it is a fob transmitter issue since the other fob works. At least one of them is up and running again!!
That's the strangest thing I've ever seen, as I like to tinker a bit with electronics and the rule #1 always seemed to be to not reverse the polarities...
