I was going to do this mod on a previous car using el strip light which would work well as it's very thin and would fit under a sill trim easily, you'd just need to cut a section out of the trim panel for a window and then put a sticker on the el panel saying carrera etc and wire into a power supply and take an earth trigger off the door switch to turn them on when opening the door like mentioned above.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone. I've been lucky enough to have a 991 C4 cab for a couple of days whilst my 996 C4S cab was in the paint shop for a scratch on the rear bumper (third party tried driving off in Sanisburys car park but was stopped by security). Lovely car, but not sure about the PDK.
Anyway my question is as follows. I've seen these before but not sure if the lighted door sills are available for the 996. I'd prefer carbon but stainless would be an option. Any pointers appreciated, even aftermarket, which I will probably have to look into.
If you do a search for porsche door sills on ebay you,ll find a few choices but no illuminated ones .. probably because theres no wireing there to illuminate them and you would need to drill through your sill to install lighting, or may be an LED strip .. still need to run the wire into the car though.
You could find something sutible and wire up a lighting supply from the interior lights but a bit fiddly .. LED strip would be best option , i would probablywire up a seperate relay earthed from the interior light switch if it was me.
Yep granted they do look nice :thumb: . But it's a lot of work to achieve. Maybe if you knew an auto electrician who could do it as a foreigner on a weekend it might help the wallet. Just be careful the work doesn't produce error codes.
Good luck :thumb:
I'm curious as to why your signature says you've got a 2wd C4S :?:
Have you converted it to 2wd and de-commissioned the red bum strip?
Sorry for the :hijack:

Just search ebay for El light panel
Hi T8. You are correct. The car is a C4S, so has the wider stance, turbo brakes etc, but the front drive shafts, diff and main drive shaft are removed (sat in the loft bit of the garage for when/if I want to convert it back). For me I just prefer the handling of the 2WD. It also helps a little with the weight.
As it's got the wider back end I've got a turbo decklid with fully functioning hydraulic spoiler (plug and play), hence no red bum strip.
I wondered how they did it. Good info, thanks. I'm pretty handy at the techy stuff (I'm an aircraft engineer by trade), but useless at the arty stuff so I know my attemp at cutting out a design would look terrible. eBay has loads of options for illuminated door sills for BMW, Mercedes and Ford hot hatches but nothing for Porsche. I'd contacted a few dealers on there and they don't appear to have the appetite.
Hi. Saw this post years after. Basically yes. I took out all of the front diff, drive shafts etc. I put a Turbo actuated boot lid on to and it was a stunner. Sold it in 2018 - wow.
