Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The option is $8k, and that's a deal - replacement rotors from Suncoast cost $7,856.30 for the front two, and $6,990.00 for the rears - that's $14.8k and change for all four.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

but ended up buying a CPO 2008 Carrera S today!! I was initially waiting till later this year to buy a '10 CS, but was *kinda* hesitating based on the DFI build-up issue and was surfing the net and well... came across a Cobalt Blue C2S with ceramic brakes, heated front seats, short shift kit, sport chrono, AND a fire extinguisher!! I looked at Porsche's autocheck feature (their version of carfax) and looked over the CPO records and test drove it and LOVED it. Only has 5500 miles on it, too! On top of that, I think I got a fairly decent price. My questions to you guys are: is there a tool kit that comes with the car? What should I look for before I pick it up? I know this is a Cayman forum, but I've been lurking here forever and it seems like I know you guys through all the posts I read and I know you guys are quite helpful of all things Porsche. Eventually, when the 911 sister site gets more traffic, I'll have to post there. But for now, I love this site! I've learned sooo much about Porsche and ownership and everything else from you guys. Thanks! Alan

POST 2Original post

Pictures. Pictures, Pictures. The only Porsche tools you need are a credit card and a cell phone. If you are going to track the car, seriously consider ditching the PCCBs. Otherwise, get your hands on Porsche race pads for PCCBs. Otherwise you may have warranty issues at some point in time. (Running street pads on the track gives them cause to blame you for brake failures) Don't depend upon the wear sensors. Eyeball your pads to avoid costly rotor replacement. My brother's 997TT is Cobalt. Beautiful color. I can't wait to see your car. Congrats!

POST 3Original post

You're in luck - there's a 997 forum, and you're now in it... What tools come with the car are behind the pull-down door in the front trunk. have them show you... As for what to look for before you pick it up - here's some handy advice that could be germane to picking up any new car... Planet Porsche - FAQ: Questions & Answers Sounds like a great car - have fun with it... brad

POST 4Original post

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I'm thinking about taking it to the track (at least for some self-timed runs) sometime in the future. I would especially love to do an event with one of the moderators here that also teaches DEs (Beez?) Based on what you said, it IS possible then to switch out to the standart steel rotors should I decide to in the future? Is there a market to sell PCCB rotors? If the pads are worn down, then only the pads need replacing right? With BMW, they also replace the rotors when they change the pad out. I didn't initially look for a car with PCCB, but it came with it at a really good price, so I couldn't turn it down. I'm just wondering because I know to replace them will cost $$$$$$x$$$$$$$ =) Anyway, I'm picking up the car tomorrow so I'll definitely post some pics up soon! Alan

POST 5Original post

I would say that if you're a track novice, your PCCBs are pretty safe until you get into one of the much higher-experienced group. Just don't let an instructor flog the heck out of your car, and trash the rotors. Dave is right, many very experienced track folks are changing out their PCCBs for steel rotors for track use. The option is $8k, and that's a deal - replacement rotors from Suncoast cost $7,856.30 for the front two, and $6,990.00 for the rears - that's $14.8k and change for all four. I don't know how much a a market there is for used PCCB rotors, I would suggest you put them aside if you change - steel rotors are cheap - if you ever sell the car, you can put the PCCBs back on. For street driving, they'll last a long time, all you'll be changing is the pads. Sounds like a great car. brad

POST 6Original post

once again, this site is great! I had spent an hour trying to do the stupid homelink and I was ready to give up. Instead, I did a search here and voila! Seems like many owners had the same problem as me: not pressing and HOLDING the homelink button in the car after pressing 'learn' on the garage door opener. Works great now! Finally got a chance to take a pic, more later. Alan

POST 8Original post

Congratulations! There are a few other 911 cousins hanging out here

POST 12Original post

thanks for the compliments guys. The funny thing is, I drove the CS several times before finding this car, and I loved the more intimate feel and smaller package of the CS. If things work out, I would definitely like to add a CS to the family in the future. But both my fiance and I agree that the 911 shape is also beautiful! I'm doing my first "mod" today: clear side markers.. I was gonna pass on them, then I saw a cobalt blue boxster with them and well, I had to have them. Unfortunately, I also scraped a little bit of paint and the black plastic trim under the passenger side lower spoiler. I'm used to driving low cars but wow, this one is LOW to the ground. I really have to angle it to exit my driveway and I'm avoiding big dips on streets now =)

POST 13Original post

Quick question: do you know why some seats have perforations (holes) in them while others do not. I do not have the sport seats; I have the power seats (not adaptive) and I have perforations in the center area. Thanks
