I dont know what the 996 roof length is but the 992 had a surprisingly large gap between the mounting points so I had to enlarge the track on my box to fit the 992 over the 991 which fitted perfectly.

Its a good time to look for a box over the next month or so (if buying used) as people use them for summer then tend to sell as not all have places to store them.

Hello all. Anyone have any advice for a small roof box to fit to my 996? I have the Porsche roof bars. Assume any box can be fitted to them (?) but would be good to hear of any particularly good or bad experiences before I take the plunge.... TY!

Cant speak about 996, but on the 991/992 I had the following box ( Kamei Corvara S 390) with the Porsche Transport system with no issues. The box has access from either side of the car which is a useful feature and something worth looking out for. Its a good time to look for a box over the next month or so (if buying used) as people use them for summer then tend to sell as not all have places to store them. Height/ and length are important things to note as is capacity. The reason I chose the Kamei one at the time was not only the dual side access but the luggage capacity for its size - it punches above its weight. You dont want anything too big nor too small. The only other bit of advice I can offer is do not assume all boxes will fit the 911. I dont know what the 996 roof length is but the 992 had a surprisingly large gap between the mounting points so I had to enlarge the track on my box to fit the 992 over the 991 which fitted perfectly.

The latest Thule are extremely easy and flexible; I've got a Force XT that also fits the Land Rover.
