Hey everybody, one of our favorite clients let us work on another of his P-cars, this time looking for more sound out of his new GTS.

He will be scaring bikers off their Harley's with that exhaust.
There's still a muffler on each side, tucked up above the tailpipes.
This looks like the standard PSE which I have on my
997.2
C2S Cab. How does it sound compared to the standard? Seems like a simple switch out. Any fault codes or gremlins? I'm interested but I don't want any unforeseen problems either.
I have a very similar product on my C4S,...although a different maker. The Sharkwerks product looks to be of equal design and quality.
I'm really not a mod type of guy and am VERY picky with the ones I go with, but there is always one or two things that make perfect sense,...to me at least.
When I first got my 997.2s one thing stood out,...it was pretty quiet compared to previous versions. Nice sound, just not enough of it. I would have checked the Sport Exhaust when ordering, but for some reason I just cannot get past the hefty price tag of it for what you get. Imagine that on a Porsche.
For a little background, the
997.2
included a third central muffler compared to just two for the 997.1 and previous
911
verions I believe. This is the primary reason for the reduced sound of the
997.2
Ordered the similar by-pass and installed. First off the central muffler is fairly heavy, but then again the good quality by-passes are pretty stout also. Are there weight savings?, yes, maybe about 10lbs. Does it release more sound?,....yes, however the sound is a bit higher in tone compared to stock. So instead of a muted deep growl (stock), it now has a slightly higher toned "racier" sound. Sounds good at low RPM, much better at higher RPMs.
This is all just seat of the pants, but they were noticed right away. First the engine does seem to rev a bit easier, slight but it is there. Additional power?,.....I would guess a few HP, like 5 or so, nothing major for sure.
It is a very worthwhile mod if you don't have the Sport Exhaust, if you do maybe less so. I would imagine though that with the sport exhaust open, and the bypasses in place, it would sound pretty mean for sure.
No after install issues at all, it's all past the cats and O2 sensors. Had them in place for well over a year now with not one issue.
