Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. my guess is the seal on the door (between the door panel and the inside of the door) has a leak (if its like other cars it's just a plastic sheet - glued on) and when you close the window the air pressure changes inside the door which allows the rattle (or there is air flowing thru the door due to the leak) - is it at ALL speeds or only higher speeds?
Leading evidence: 'Tighten after a drop of locktite' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace inside the door' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. So it's something in the doors that changes when the window is lowered.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

No, not an IMS failure, but...
When I lower the windows half an inch, total rattle free driving. When I raise the windows all the way up, both doors make click-click noises over bumps.
I would think when the windows were all the way up, everything tightens up. But in this case, more open windows are quieter.
Anyone know what would cause this?
The extended cold has uncovered a slight rattle in my passenger side door. Seems like it is in the side airbag.
If the temp is over ~35 degrees it goes away. Perhaps the cold is hindering your rattle-free driving as well?
Oh yeah, I have the exact thing in my '03 C4S! Especially at idle. If I push on the inside door airbag or the door closer thing, it goes away. I have thought about a tap with a hammer and a pc. of wood, but the airbag scares me. (The way things go for me is, well you know.......and then someone asks "what the hell were you thinking?..............and I don't have anything to say
) I guess I could take the door panel off and find the culprit.
I had the exact same passenger door rattle. Thanks to Acciardi's post (9-13-1993 found under " door rattle") with door panel dismantle instructions, I was able to dissect into the problem.

My rattle was different than Acciardi's. Mine was from a loose screw. I tightened after a drop of locktite.
I believe the screw secured the window motor, though I am embarrassed I never checked its real identity. The loose metal motor-like part was below the airbag and rearward from the speaker. It was obvious after removing the door panel. I had to cut away the foam liner to get to it.
See Acciardia's post as to how to remove the panel and air bag cover.
My rattle is now gone.
I have a rattle coming from the passenger side airbag. If I push on the center of the airbag, it goes away. Does the airbag cover come off easily? I figure there may be something loose behind the cover.
Why would the rattle go away with the window cracked open? Does that lead to the lock module problem, or a loose screw (in both doors) as the possible cause?
No, I'm referring to the passenger side door panel air bag. I may pull that air bag cover panel off to see if something is loose there. No issues pulling that cover is there?

how is that for "out there"
LOL
I had a similar rattle, took the door apart and found two screws holding the woofer assembly loose, one was almost out. I could push on the airbag also and get it to stop, so I noticed that near where the screw for the airbag goes in is a thin metal plate that could rattle. I put some of friction tape to cover that area and my rattle went away. Do not know which of the two it was.
I just fear messing with the water barrier - I ripped the one in my old Accord to pieces trying to remove it "gently"!
The rattles happen at any speed, when I hit bumps (nothing to do with air flow - that IS out there!). I notice it more at slow speeds since the engine is quieter. Crack the window down a bit, and the rattles are gone. So it's something in the doors that changes when the window is lowered.
loose window track somewhere, when the weight of the window is being held up, the connection wont rattle, when the window it supported on the top somehow the parts that are loose are allowed to rattle....
I dont think the vapor barrier rips on P-Cars. I know that many people have taken them apart without reporting they have ripped it.
So either way, I should remove the barrier and make sure all the screws and bolts are tight around the window track, and speaker unit - and while I'm in there, make sure the lock motor doesn't hit the door frame?
