Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Folks, My '01 likely has an original windshield, as well as the hardware and glue? holding it in. I've learned that to replace the trim, the rubber / inner and the metal outer, means the windshield needs to come out, and that it would likely break, better to leave it. I'm ok with that. But, my outer surround is black, except in places where it has shed the 'paint' or coating and in those places the surround is silver, and it looks annoying. The trim is also very loose at the top, you can pull it away from the windshield / body at the top especially. If anyone has experience or suggestions on how to handle this, please let me know. Regarding replacement... it looks like I can get a windshield for less than 500 at sunset - link - and the metal surround is quite reasonable, the local porsche center is quoted 750, and they certainly would not allow me to drop ship sale parts to their door. I've been told not let anyone other than a Porsche specialist touch the screen. Can one of you experts set me straight please?

I had a local glass shop install an oem sekurit (sp) windshield for less than $600 in 2021. Look around. My local Porsche dealer would not even do it, they sub it out
