Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey gang, I went to adjust the seatback of the passenger seat in my 2002 996 and it has leaned all the way back. When you try to adjust it to a natural sitting position, seatback moves about but falls all the way back to the most reclined position as soon as you let go of the lever. How much of a job am I in for this time? Seems like mere days ago I dealt with my window regulator..... can anyone point me to the parts I might need and a guide of any kind?

POST 2Original post

What year is your car and where do you live. I am replacing the seats in my car with 997 seats and the leather is in really bad shape. So i have the frames, motors, etc. for electric seats. If your near the Chicago area you could have them. Shipping would be expensive.

POST 3Original post

Double post from another thread....sorry. My Passenger seat jammed full forward. The rest works. In my family only my 14 year old daughter, enjoys being a passenger. My wife if she's in will drive it. I've had work on suspension while Dharn55 dropped off an Engine case (thank you) it was Nickied by LN, (thank you) and has reached Australia, the engine is being built away from the running car currently. The suspension shop was able to jam the seat in position suitable for my daughter. I have zero back issues except for the stock seats, my wife has back issues. So the approved decision was aftermarket seats. Sliders base, in hand seat are built to order,so for Australia we will wait for the seats. Manual seats mean weight loss less pain. and new. Only electrics will be seat belt and air bag safety. I think the future of these cars is stock. If you rebuild stock seats I would have them re padded re suspended. Or even with pump up lumbar supports etc. Many do say the 997 seats are a gain, they aren't being parted out in Australia.
