Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have not had much of a problem with hitting and I am running a 4S/Turbo Aero lip.

Was a little cheaper than replacing with stock parts too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings all,
I'm looking at upgrading/replacing the suspension on my C4S. She has about 80k miles on her and while I'm waiting on my new DD to arrive I may be daily'ing her for a little while. With that in mind, she still has her stock suspension and I'm trying to figure out how to go about refreshing it so that the ride can be a little more compliant while still retaining it's sportiness. I know very little about the components that I need to be looking at aside from coilovers. Does anyone have any experience with Bilstein or Feal coilovers? My primary intent is to make the ride a little less harsh, and I'd also like to lower the ride height by probably 10-30mm's (or at least have that option to adjust it as needed). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have had Bilstein PSS10's on my C4 for about 10 years and they are great. When I put these on Koni did not make a shock to fit the C4(S). Maybe they do now. The front struts on C4's are totally different from the C2's.
since I also have a C4S and started research on suspension replacement/upgrade I also looked up the Koni recommendation. So far though it seems they only make it for the C2, and wont fit our turbo/C4S setup. As far as I can see Bilstein B4(OEM) or B6 with H&R springs will be our best options. Im still learning as well so looking forward to seeing more input from more seasoned members.
Koni does not make shocks for the 996 C4S. If you would like ride height and dampening adjustment look into a coilover. At the top of the list for street and HPDE/Track it would be the Ohlin's, next the Bilstein's PSS10's followed by the Feal's. When I replaced all my suspension last year the Ohlin's were MIA due some issues they had which I hear they handled really well. The Bilstein's I could get in 3 days at a great price. I am very happy with the PSS10's, dialed down the ride is much more forgiving than stock. Turned up they get pretty firm, I autocross and it has helped a great deal with that. To say the least I am very happy. Installation was a breeze too. Please leave the 18" wheels on the car, they just work best with the 4S/Turbo suspension and brakes.
I've been wrestling with this very question for quite some time. One thing I did and continue to do is search out this question here and other forums. Lots of info to read and study. What I decided to do is to rebuild the suspension first. My C2 has over 120k miles. I'm in the process now of installing all new components front and rear. Wishbones, Ties, track rods, control arms, etc. Doing the wheel bearings and engine mounts too. Around the shocks, I'm replacing the mounts and the secondary springs, bellows and such. The tire are new, I'll get the alignment done once I'm done and see where I'm at.
I suspect I'm going to be very happy and leave things alone at that point. I'll add that I have had the Aero kit on my car for 16 or so years now. I long ago got tired of replacing the front lower spoiler and I'm a very careful driver I have never understood how folks can lower these cars even more than they are. Can't image what the undersides look like. Anyway, I feel I have to get my chassis back up to spec before tinkering with changes to the struts.
The ROW suspension that is standard for everyone else but us (USA), has not been much of a problem from all that I have talked to. Both from those that have installed ROW parts and people over seas. The PSS10's set the car to GT2 height. I have not had much of a problem with hitting and I am running a 4S/Turbo Aero lip. When you get to GT3 height or lower, that where things get interesting.
