There's a chap here recommending SP Autobahn in Stirling as your nearest Porsche specific specialist but it's probably a 2hr drive each way for you.

But if you don't want/need the warranty and it's an older car, I'd go indie too (checking who's done the work)

I've been considering changing the Cayenne for a while now but really can't think what else out there does such a good job, without spending big £££.

Just enquired about an oil change service with my supplying dealer , it’s nearly 60 % more than two years ago , totally unjustifiable imho.

Now the Indie might use some non OEM parts (it was for suspension) but I know the techie in question who is the Indie & he is one of the best out there so other than a new courtesy car at the OPC, nice coffee & a pretty condition report, there’s no difference when it comes to the person doing the work .

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hello all, our Cayenne 2018 (70k) currently has a full Porsche service history, and it's just flashed up saying the next one is due.
Im tempted to keep it going, but at the same time also wondering if there really is much value in it once cars reach this age and mileage?
Would having non FPSH put people off?
We've owned the car for about 5 years now and im likely to keep the car for another year or two. I don't normally keep cars this long but it's been absolutely fantastic for what we need and it's hard to see what to replace it with.
Any thoughts?
Does it's have an extended OPC warranty?
If it does, reccomend OPC servicing
If you intend to put one on it, also keep OPC servicing
If you intend to sell it privately, the OPC extended warranty will give the new buyer peace of mind and make a private sale easier.
If you don't have an extended warranty, and don't intend to put one on it, going to a good independent would make sense.
I it will eventually be sold to trade, the value of the extended warranty is greatly reduced
The only reason for staying with Porsche for servicing is their amazingly cheap warranty.
Having that warranty is what will add value come sale time imho, the service history done at an indy won't take away much if anything imho, not on a car that is 8 or 9 years old.

I always went main dealer, but did have the warranty and used it multiple times on some fairly big ticket items. As you’ve no interest in the warranty, I’d find a good independent to keep it running and save yourself some money.
No warranty, go independent, no brainer as I presume we're talking about a derv model? If the car is traded in the future to Porsche it will go to auction so they won't be bothered even though they'll try to knock you.
Would a 8-9 year old high mile Cayenne (diesel) concern me if it had a mix of OPC and independent service history? No as I'd be buying on overall condition.
As an illustration of pricing on a Porsche, I saw a post recently somewhere where a guy needed some work doing and the difference was the OPC c. £2k & at an independent £800. Now the Indie might use some non OEM parts (it was for suspension) but I know the techie in question who is the Indie & he is one of the best out there so other than a new courtesy car at the OPC, nice coffee & a pretty condition report, there’s no difference when it comes to the person doing the work . On a 70k mile Cayenne, I’d be using an Indie all the way and putting the savings aside just in case.
I would expect a car of that age to be in the hands of the indies by now, whatever brand.
When I bought my 996 it had a mix of OPC and specialist servicing. Only thing I cared about was whether it had been done on time and by someone reputable.
I had a couple of major warranty issues in my ownership, all the known 996 gremlins. All were dealt with under the third party warranty who were happy it had been serviced to schedule, regardless of OPC or not.
It's a tale as old of the hills: when you are buying a dealer will tell you that OPC history is essential, when you're trading back to them it's little value to you, that is my experience across several premium brands, especially once out of manufacturer warranty.
Just enquired about an oil change service with my supplying dealer , it’s nearly 60 % more than two years ago , totally unjustifiable imho.
I don’t like having my pants pulled down, they’ve lost me as a customer. I’m not going back at all.
Independent for me from now on.
I have decided to go with Porsche and keep the history FPSH. May cost me a bit more now, but I couldn't find anyone nearby that I would class as 'reputable'. I've been considering changing the Cayenne for a while now but really can't think what else out there does such a good job, without spending big £££. Going to get all 4 wheels refurbed at the same time. Will be expensive, but cheaper than upgrading to a newer model

As others have said, if you dont have the OPC warranty and dont want it, independent all the way.
This, and I say that as someone who has 2 cars on OPC extended warranty, one of which needing a new PDK.
But if you don't want/need the warranty and it's an older car, I'd go indie too (checking who's done the work)

I guess your location is a bit of a complication?
There's a chap here recommending SP Autobahn in Stirling as your nearest Porsche specific specialist but it's probably a 2hr drive each way for you.
Those of us in the crowded South East of England don't have to worry quite so much about such distances!

Have you got a comparable quote from an independent?
When I did, it wasn’t much cheaper and no Porsche courtesy car.
£300 from an independent , £549 from the supplying OPC .
Asked the service receptionist at the OPC to have a word with his manager and come back to me , that was yesterday and you’ve guessed right , no communication today.
Don’t need a courtesy car of any type.

Yes, fair enough on all points.
Independent all the way!
If not renewing a warranty id just go independent, when my gt4 reaches 12 years old I’ll be going a step further and doing all myself tbh, it’s a keeper for me so not bothered about potential sales issues.
I think some of the well known independents are quite expensive, cheaper than Porsche, but when you add in the “we notice this and recommend you do it sooner rather later” you’ll end up paying the same money.
For an old car, FPSH doesn’t really add anything to values, folk are more interested to know that major work has been done regardless of who has carried it out, and some independents, like Hartech, have their own brand value.

For the record the OPC still haven’t been in contact with.
Unfortunately, your experience is not untypical.
I’m not defending OPC, but I get the distinct impression that their service teams are often overstretched.
