I don’t think it’s coming from the expansion tank (looks like it’s been replaced some point).

I’ve used the Mikalor clamps on my exhaust tips so am familiar with those.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 C2 (‘98) has decided to water the driveway with coolant (didn’t notice any issues driving it c30mins) and it looks like it’s coming from the photographed pipe/clamp? I don’t think it’s coming from the expansion tank (looks like it’s been replaced some point). Can anyone please tell me what this pipe is, and ideally the size/part number for the clamp? I’m lost looking at the diagrams but hoping a clamp replacement and coolant top up (it’s just on the ‘min’ mark in the tank, so didn’t lose a lot) will get me back home again! Many thanks for any assistance!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Alex - managed to top up and get back home and it is definitely coming from that joint as I could see it pouring out! I’ll get a jubilee on there as you suggest, and then think about replacing the others!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you - I did find the diagram but no idea which pipe I’m looking at!

POST 6Original post

Try replacing the clip first. You may find it falls apart when you take it off as they do rust. If you replace with jubilee style clip rather than a new spring clip, you may find you will need two fixed in opposite orientation to each other as they don't have equal clamping force all the way round and it will still leak.

POST 7Original post

they do rust like hell - there's a tool designed for these type of clips that I found useful but it was a bit of a pig to get off.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

noted, thank you! Hoping I can get under the car at the weekend to measure the pipe(s) properly so will make sure I order a couple/several stainless clips. Might treat myself to a pair of the clamp pliers as I'm sure they'll be useful again in the future (assuming I dont break them!).

POST 9Original post

When replacing either Jubilee clamps or Oetiker style clamps I go for these. https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/HoseClip_Mikalor_Supra-W4.html Westfield fasteners are also a good place to go for stainless replacement bolts, self tapping screws etc.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excellent, thanks! I’ve used the Mikalor clamps on my exhaust tips so am familiar with those.
