I debadged mine before I swapped my rear deck for a Taco spoiler deck.

When I swapped for the Taco spoiler, I decided to leave it blank.

The debadging was easy enough using 2 packages of floss.

Suggestion
I've never seen an aftermarket badge, but would assume it would depend upon the material used by whomever made it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guess his Lasic surgery didn't work out too well...
I have a 99 996 with a Carrera badge on the rear lid. Saw another '99 with a "911" badge on the back. Were these optional or did the original owner make a change?
the 911 was available only on the Millenium and Anniversary edition. My car came with rear badge delete (nothing) and wanting something a bit different I added 911.
fixed
The models that had it instead of the "traditional" Carrera:
2000 Me
2004 40Jahre
Since all the cars in the 996 line (except the Turbo and GT cars) are a 911 Carrera either is correct for the rear.
I got s**t from someone around here (!) who asked why I put '
Camero
' on the back of my car after I painted it red. Guess his Lasic surgery didn't work out too well... Now everyone in the household calls it my P Car - Porsche Camero!
The Anniversary edition 911 emblem was in chrome (which by the way is like $200, the matte black version is $30). Since a Carrera is a 911, I would submit that it is acceptable to have the 911 emblem in matte black.
I put the matte black 911 on mine, because I think it fits in better with the theme of the Aero kit, which is "GT3 like" in appearance. I have seen a couple of 997s also with Aero kits and the 911 emblem. I think it completes the look, but yet is not misleading or incorrect.
I however did see some poseur with a GT3 emblem on PCH with a 996 Mk1 car. Since there were no Mk1 GT3s offered in the US, unless he was lucky enough to some how import it, I would say he was posing. Didn t sound like a GT3 either, and when I pulled up next to him, he would not acknowledge my presence, so either he thought I was a poseur with an Aero kit or he was feeling guilty....
I'm debating doing this, bought the badge a year or two ago but never fitted it. May do it now! How hard is it to line up position wise, any tips?

I debadged mine before I swapped my rear deck for a Taco spoiler deck.
The debadging was easy enough using 2 packages of floss.
But getting all the old glue off was horrible.
That took 10 times longer.
After the glue was all off, you could see where the old Carerra badge had been.
Then my detailer did a paint correction and ceramic coating and it was slightly noticeable only if you knew to look for it.
Then I added a black 911 badge.
Install was nerve-racking, but easy.
With the 911 on it, no one would notice.
When I swapped for the Taco spoiler, I decided to leave it blank.
For anyone that is doing badge removal, this tool is inexpensive and 100% necessary. It makes glue removal SOOOOO much easier! Ive used it many times to remove badges or side moldings, or those annoying dealer stickers.

Hmm, I wonder if that would help me take the racing stripes (hood/roof/trunk/bumpers) off my 2006 Mustang.
They have cracked badly but the paint looks perfect.
This is a job I've been putting off.
Ive never used it on anything as wide or as long as racing stripes, but it may be worth a try.
The largest surface Ive used it on is a car door replacement that came with a side molding I did not want. It worked really well for taking off the adhesive that was about 2wide by about 4 feet long.
I have an original 2003 40 Jahre rear '911' badge in its original Porsche bag. Some years ago I was going to get an anniversary edition and got it with all the excitement but the project didn't complete. been collecting dust in my garage since then …..
my 996 911 rear badge indicates Porsche. See attached. I want to add Carrera below the porsche badge but the rear hatch is contoured. Are the aftermarket badges flexible enough fit the contour. Has anybody added a badge as described.
The factory badges are not flexible enough.
I've never seen an aftermarket badge, but would assume it would depend upon the material used by whomever made it.
You could 3D print one with a flexible filament, but those are more rubber-like.
It might not take paint, nor hold up well.
Anyone have any tips on how to align the 911 badge? It's angled and want to make sure it is exactly where it's supposed to be. Also not sure if this is normal but the adhesive on the back seems REALLY weak.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
