I did manage to find a vacuum hose that I didn't seem to document, so I'm wondering if it came loose and I didn't notice, or if it's not something I've known was disconnected for a while and I'm just finding it.

Are there any other valves/parts I should replace "while I'm in there" (under the manifold)?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Howdy all - replacing most of the vacuum stuff in my '00 2.7L. I have the passenger intake manifold off already. I'm replacing all the old cracked plastic lines and connectors with brass barbed connectors and 4mm vacuum line. I have a replacement vacuum canister, but wanted to confirm. Is it just a small phillips screw that holds it in/on? I noticed the one little plastic line that sorta "wraps around it" (not the one directly connected to the reservoir) is broken in half. I believe that line would go to the electronic changeover valve correct? Are there any other valves/parts I should replace "while I'm in there" (under the manifold)? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

This thread has links to some useful stuff, including the link in post #4 to a diagram http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/83760-identify-small-hose-under-aos-00-2-7l.html Yes the canister is held on by one screw. There is a one way valve in the line from the intake manifold, make sure it is one way and in the right direction.

POST 3Original post

Yes, a single screw holds it to the bracket. Correct, the changeover valve for the secondary air injection. A good visual inspection of the plastics: Oil filler tube, long tube that crosses from the AOS to the PCV valve at the left front. Check the wires that connect to the knock sensors - often chewed by rodents. I've posted various diagrams of the vacuum system here over the years and they should be easy to find with a search. I can pull one up if needed.

I chuckled a bit. That link goes to another of my posts lol! Imagine my deja fu feeling reading it!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys probably a REALLY stupid question... when putting the two intake tubes back on between the intake manifolds, on the cabin side tube with the resonator valve, what is the correct orientation of it when re-installing? Like in this picture below, the orange vacuum line, does that face the passenger or driver side of car when installed?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I'm all sorted on that tube reinstall. I did manage to find a vacuum hose that I didn't seem to document, so I'm wondering if it came loose and I didn't notice, or if it's not something I've known was disconnected for a while and I'm just finding it. My car DOES have a Tiptronic, so I have the little vacuum valve thing near the decklid that my 4-way connector is ALREADY connected back up to. I noticed the valve thing has 2 "nipples" though, one is currently unused. I don't remember disconnected 2 lines from it, but could be that simple. Figured I'd validate with the experts first! The hose in this pic, does it go to that open nipple on the Tiptronic valve thing right next to it?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Welp, I got her all back together and WOW, not only an amazing feeling to DIY that work, but car sounds SOOOO much healthier now with all the vacuum leaks fixed. Work done: - New vacuum canister ("while im in there") - New AOS (main cause of work) - all vacuum lines replaced with brass fittings/connectors and rubber hose (with some "slack" added for ease of maintenance in the future) - New intake boots on the 2 connector tubes (big difference! totally worth the price!) - New "valve" thing that connects to underside of rear tube (forget which valve it is - the cheapie one) I learned a lot! And I'm actually glad I took the intake manifold off. Had always thought that was "major" work. I'm not too scared of it anymore. Very "procedural" as I saw someone else on the boards refer to it. Not hard/scary work, just multiple basic steps, but all very easy. Cheers fellas!
