I guess this is a typical chicken and egg situation faced by many new 996 owners who want to place an axle stand under the factory specified jacking points, but need to jack the car up first to do so, but obviously can't use the factory specified jacking points to do so....

I also use a Tesla jacking puck with the trolley jack and have a jack that goes quite low.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess this is a typical chicken and egg situation faced by many new 996 owners who want to place an axle stand under the factory specified jacking points, but need to jack the car up first to do so, but obviously can't use the factory specified jacking points to do so.... Is there a prescribed method to either jack from the normal points but place stands elsewhere, or jack from elsewhere and place the stands under the jacking points? With M30 and the aerokit, I'm restricted to my scissor jack as my normal trolley jack doesn't go low enough to fit under the sides of the car. It is at this point I deeply regret selling my QuickJacks, but I'm loathed to buy another pair as whilst they were great in many ways, they were an absolute PITA in others, yet most 'affordable' home lifts block access to the centre section of the car, so for now I think I'll struggle on with jacks and stands if I can work out where to position them and in what order. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I jack with a trolly jack via the rear jacking points as this raises the whole side of the car. I then put an axle stand under the front jacking point and another under the rear where the coffin arms meet the sub frame as this is pretty robust. I always use rubber pucks on any touch point. Repeat for the opposite side and with 4 x axle stands you've got the complete car off the ground.

I do the same as this

POST 5Original post

Same here, jack from the rear jacking point, place a stand at the front or something under the front tyres, and then stands at the rear subframe. It's super easy compared to many other cars. I also use a Tesla jacking puck with the trolley jack and have a jack that goes quite low.

I just drive the car on to some 4" tapered blocks of wood, then the trolley jack can slide underneath.

POST 7Original post

Over here in Finland, the locals call a 'low jack' a rally jack. I have an 80mm rally jack, no faff with bits of wood.
