Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

coming off the A63 into hull at the Elloughton turn off (its a long left hander in total about 270 deg since you go back over the A63) i noticed the steering went exceptionally heavy at about 180 deg, looked down and saw every light on and no power..... Started up fine, whilst still moving (although steering felt very heavy of course) and didn't happen again for the rest of the unnecessary, top down glorious summer day hairdressing journey.... 8) Anyone any ideas? Fuel tank was around 1/4 full, could it have been the action of the left hander cutting fuel to the pump and thus stalling?... :? am i worrying unnecessarily? Thanks in advance Tim

POST 2Original post

My initial thoughts are that it could be the level of fuel was at an angle to the horizontal, thus no fuel going into the throttle while you were going round the bend (excuse the pun) hence cutting both fuel supply and the power? You would have had to be doing some speed for this to happen though. I wonder what would have happened on a tank that was a bit fuller than what you had at the time. Just a guess mind..... ~ Maxie

POST 3Original post

<sucks teeth, shrugs shoulders, looks shifty> "well, sir, this is going to be expensive"

POST 4Original post

Has never happened to me, and I have cornered quickly with very little fuel in the tank. Give an OPC a call and ask their opinion. You would assume it has to be the fuel cutting out somewhere along the line. BUt then I know nothing about engines!

POST 5Original post

Are you sure you should be on this forum? You admit the above AND no longer even own a Porsche! tsk tsk

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

should i assume the position...?

POST 7Original post

Alternator/Serpentine Belt? Steering still felt heavy after restart is a little strange!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sorry guys, steering was heavy before restart hence what alerted me to look down in the middle of a bend (not somtething i'd normally do...) everything was fine after and stayed that way even on other left hand bends..... my thoughts were fuel cut-off somehow especially as the corner is loooong (about 4-500m, constant turn) and i was doing around 60 down to 50....

POST 9Original post

The corner's fine, the car won't cut out going slowly around a corner Were you maintaining a constant RPM or did you change gear ie. dipped the revs?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

changed down 4th to third and i did think "cr*p have i stalled it" but fairly certain i just affected a normal gearchange, there was no lurching that i recall.... Maybe i stalled? (back to driving school Mr Storey.......)

POST 11Original post

I would try it again to see if its repeatable....

POST 12Original post

Tim it is perfectly normal. All cabs come with a lateral G cut off safety device. If a cab experiences more than +/- 0.2g then the power is cut. This is to protect the cars interior and its occupants from dangerous items sliding around on the seats such as scissors and straightening tongues. Hope this helps

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LMFAO, thanks Dave thats re-assuring to know, although i did nearly chip a nail reaching for the key.... I think that may have been the first corner the car had turned in its life actually....
