Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I have a 99 carrera with about 150kms. I did an oil change at the mechanic shop and few days after i got a CEL. I brought my car back to get the codes scanned and got the following 174-01 Bank 1 camshaft adjustment exceeds limit 322-01 bank 1 timing chain out of position I wanted to post on here and see if anyone has experienced this before. The car drives and runs fine no noises or anyrhing i can hear. Any input would be great. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Nobody ever answered this? My guess is they put the wrong weight oil back in it. If it's too thick it won't pass into the chain tensioner hole when cold which would cause the chain to be loose and the cam timing to be off causing both codes. Just my thoughts. Tony

POST 3Original post

Has the IMS bearing been done? The intermediate shaft turns the cam chains, so if the bearing is failing, the shaft isn’t staying in position. This could be a problem for the engine. Did you collect an oil sample or check the filter. I know I wouldn’t be driving it until I had some answers. Better safe than sorry and lose the engine completely.
