Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In reading many texts, I see photos of your car to be "highly recommended" by moderators.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In reading many texts, I see photos of your car to be "highly recommended" by moderators. Our Cayman's mostly look the same except for colors. What's the point of photo's? Thanks.
I dislike most forms of social media. However...I certainly understand that community engagement is important for many. From my viewpoint, I joined this forum for hopefully positive exchanges of information... not to be chastised with a gif (
@deilenberger
) for not posting a picture of my car.
Hey Buddy just so you know. Don has wisdom beyond most of the staff mechanics at a dealership. He freely donates his time to help everybody, and he’s always uplifting and supportive. He has saved people thousands of dollars by himself and he draws no pay from this. So my advice would be to keep your powder dry till you know what’s what.
Its unfortunately the times we live in now, where most forms of social medial are filled with scammers/spammers. There are thousands of bad actors constantly monitoring any popular forums, mostly by Eastern European and Nigerian scam centers. Many forum members are blissfully unaware that these bad actors are all around them because they dont even have to join or post anything to pull any of their many scams.
Just look below at the current stats from a very low volume hobby forum of mine. There are typically only 15 or so active members logged in at any time, yet there are thousands of people on the site at all times. There are far more scammer accounts being created on this hobby site of mine every day than actual members, yet most members there are seniors and tend to act as if the only people browsing the forums and watching what they post are enthusiast like they are. It's not the 1960s any more!!!
Scammers are constantly monitoring public forums with the intent to scam people in the classifieds for those foolish enough to post their personal contact info publicly. Or they post external URL links to their fraudulent websites hidden within their post or quotes from others in order to raise the trust score of those fraudulent sites.
Its a constant battle for the moderators, as these guys will create multiple fake accounts a time, and many of them are silly one worded introductions like "hi" or "cabriolet" since they have no clue about the actual subject of the forum, much less any pictures or detailed knowledge of their so called car. These request force the scammers out of the shadows, because they typically show their hand and ignorance once they are forced to engage with others.
How about a picture Hanshan? And Don does a great job around here. You won't find many forums run as well these days. Hope to met you one day since I am in Virginia too! You should join PCA and Shennandoah Region if you haven't already.
Breaking news: 1) This forum is NOT social media. 2) It is totally voluntary, no one forces anyone to view, visit, participate or contribute 3) Requesting a photo of one’s ride is standard, it helps us all engage in our Porsche owners community, it does not rise to ‘chastising’.
We all come here to share tips, tricks, hacks and experience. Most get more out of it than they put in. And from being a member of this community for years, I can attest that Don puts in far more than the average browser here. He suggests/requests the photos to make everyone feel included. Over time, we see the same contributors here regularly, answering questions, directing others to valuable information they are seeking. Everyone is welcome to join, share, contribute and enjoy the friendly banter. And anyone is also welcome to abstain who doesn’t appreciate those who make this forum possible through their unpaid efforts at being Administrators and Moderators. Shout out to all those who operate this forum behind the curtain, and all those who visit and contribute to make this the most informative and enjoyable place for Porsche owners to gather.
It's just not a big deal, but I've been cruising car forums for years and it's standard practice to include a picture of one's ride. Consider it a name and and a face. When you post something we associate you with that image. Also the basic car is the same, but we're going to appreciate the details like which wheels, the color, the stance etc.
This thread has some long legs. And all over one’s reticence over posting photos of their vehicle. We all come here to share our love of our amazing Porsche rides. Just don’t understand the friction out there. There is no pressure to click the button bringing one to PLANET-9.
Hey "Buddy"......my "powder" remains dry...Regardless of Don's knowledge and forum efforts (both of which I am certain are top notch), ...I believe an initial "welcome to the forum" type of message with a polite follow up request for a photo would have been preferable to a gif indicating that my addition to the welcome thread was "worthless" without a picture. FYI, Don and I have exchanged PM's and moved past this.
This thread isn't of any lasting value to this forum. And it's becoming argumentative. Those of you who know me - personally - and from forum interactions know I have little patience for useless unfriendly chatter.
So the thread is now closed. It will go away all by itself after a while. It had some good moments when some people came out and posted their cars here, and I'd encourage everyone who hasn't done that to do it. It helps created an atmosphere we want here - one of people with common interests helping each other out.
'Nuff said. Thread closed.
