Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having owned my 2000 C2 Cab for almost 2 years now, I realised that I have fixed a few things that have gone wrong, but never done any 'preventative' work. Can anyone advise on things that I could get done over the next 6-12months in order to avoid failures further down the line? Things that would be expected to wear out pretty soon on a 7yr old 48k mile car? Maybe there will be nothing and you guys will all turn round and tell me the car is built to last 100k before needing work. But having shelled out £800 on non-warranty failures in the past 3mths I want to know what else might be in store. I also need to start saving! Thanks, Josh

POST 2Original post

Has the car followed the full service schedule ? - by that I mean minor and major services. What I have noticed is cars that just have the bare minimum annual service - minor each year (owners presumably justify 'cos they are often doing below the milage required to service based on milage. Which can mean spark plugs (which are a 4 year or 48K miles item) and brake fluid (every 2 years I think) don't get done. - There maybe other items like filters (fuel and pollen) that get skipped. If it has followed a strict service schedule I would think it should be OK.

POST 3Original post

Wow, you've asked an almost impossible question to answer as it totally depends on how your car was serviced/maintained previously and - quite frankly - luck! But at this mileage, a lot of the suspension components start getting tired affecting the car's handling. The issue here is that the degradation of suspension tends to be very gradual, and you may not notice the change unless you jumped in another younger version of your own car. Also, things like clutches etc, if not already changed, may be due soon - but this depends a lot on your own driving style. My original clutch was only half worn at 40k miles but I've heard of some people going through 2 clutches in the same period of time, so truly YMMV. I'm not sure if you can do any preventative maintenance for the items above, but frequent oil changes for the engine, gearbox, etc will help preserve all the unseen parts in regular use.

POST 4Original post

Keeping the radiator vents clear at the front is something a lot of people don't do. Was a dead bird in mine when I last cleaned them.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys, and Adrien is right that its not a simple question! Its always had the correct OPC annual service (minor/major) regardless of mileage. Its also just had a new clutch & RMS, and will get new discs & pads within next 6mths. Suspension - I am noticing that it is slightly less sure footed than it used to be and am wondering if all of those lovely London speed bumps are taking their toll. I will get all suspensions bits looked at when it gets serviced in Sept.
