Suggestion

You don't really need to buy replacement sensors unless your previous items were triggered and you then continued to use the pads for a good while longer, until the sensors disintegrated!

Thanks to the very helpful instructions in the technical section I'm going to do a DIY disc and pad replacement but not sure which brand to use, the OEM discs from eurocar parts are more expensive than Eicher, Sebro or Zimmermann but are they better, same goes for pads too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to the very helpful instructions in the technical section I'm going to do a DIY disc and pad replacement but not sure which brand to use, the OEM discs from eurocar parts are more expensive than Eicher, Sebro or Zimmermann but are they better, same goes for pads too. If I go for the cheaper ones will I notice the difference or have any regrets re durabilty down the line, not that the original ones have been too robust!! I'd welcome any views or experiences Thanks

POST 2Original post

I went for the Sebro disks - no problems or regrets. They are indistinguishable for Porsche original disks, and my indy says they are the same - ie Sebro make the Porsche disks - I can't confirm that, as there was talk that Zimmerman made them for Porsche, but whatever the truth the Sebro disks are fine. Also go for the Textar pads - they are the same as the Porsche pads, but in a different box.

POST 3Original post

Aren't Zimmerman brakes just for old people Seriously though, if you have an OPC warrantee (or intend getting one), they will require genuine Porsche parts fitted - just a thought.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the warranty at the moment and intend renewing based on the claims I had last year, RMS, aircon blower motor, oil separator, air bag sensor module. That said I didn't think the braking friction surfaces were covered under the warranty.

POST 5Original post

The warranty booklet says "Genuine Porsche Parts, or those of matching quality". I doubt if anyone could tell the difference of a Sebro or genuine disk if you put them side-by-side without doing a metallurgical analysis. They certainly work and last as well as originals in my (and others) experience.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, Just ordered the Sebro/Textar combo from Design911

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When you add in the shims and sensors yes, plus they had them in stock. The guy I spoke to at my local Eurocar was not sure they had everything I needed. local OPC quoted £398+VAT for set of front discs and pads ( before PCGB discount) Design 911 price £349 for front and rear inc sensors and shims. hopefully they'll arrive for me to fit this weekend.

POST 9Original post

You don't really need to buy replacement sensors unless your previous items were triggered and you then continued to use the pads for a good while longer, until the sensors disintegrated! I have also never bought shims and never experienced any pad 'squeal' as a result. Well done anyway, lots of money saved, good luck with the fitting![ ]
