Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yes, it is possible to retrofit the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport roll cage (or the factory-fitted cage from a 718 Cayman GT4 with the Weissach Package) into a standard 718 GT4 that did not originally come with one.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it possible to retrofit the 718 roll cage to an existing GT4 without it fitted? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Yes, it is possible to retrofit the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport roll cage (or the factory-fitted cage from a 718 Cayman GT4 with the Weissach Package) into a standard 718 GT4 that did not originally come with one. However....the 718 GT4 Clubsport has a welded-in roll cage which require extensive modifications. The 718 GT4 Weissach Package cage is a bolt-in roll cage, which is more practical for retrofitting.

POST 3Original post

718 GT4 Clubsport race car has welded cage, yes. Road car has a bolt in cage as part of the 003 Clubsport page. Certainly for 981 GT4, body in white had the bosses for the roll cage if the car was specced CS. Non-CS cars did not have these bosses for cage mounting.. so unsure if 718 GT4 is the same. So I don’t know for fact if you can retrofit the 003 factory cage to a non-CS as it may not have the floor bosses. Same applies for the GT4 RS WP Ti roll cage… don’t know if that it available after sales, and don’t know it’s compatibility with a non-CS specced car due to floor bosses. But If your road car was not specced with 003 Clubsport… yes it is possible to retro fit a bolt in unit. There is the Manthey option which looks a little different to the 003 Factory option, designed to be used in cars that were not CS specced. There is also Heigo. There are others also, but I just listed those two.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had heard that the Manthey could be an option…. I wonder if it would affect the Porsche warranty? I would however be more interested in the oem Porsche fitting Edited by Olderandwiser22 on Friday 14th February 20:49

POST 5Original post

The body in white for the 718 GT4 with the CS option is different to the body of the car without this option. The CS body includes the bolt in points for the cage and harnesses. Without these attachment points the OEM Porsche cage cannot be installed. However if you search Rennlist 718GT4 etc sub forum, you will find a thread where people claim to have retrospectively installed the bolt in points for the cage.
