Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Found a coolant leak on my car while changing the trans fluid. I have smelled this everytime I have gotten out of the car. This is on the drivers side, transmission side near the top. It is running from above those bellows. What is that sensor above the bellows. It could be coming from even above that. This can't be the expansion tank it is way too far away. Need help from those who are familiar with this area.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did not realize after reading about the aos it can cause a coolant leak

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok thanks, thats my problem then, are these oringed connections or just clamps

POST 6Original post

crimped clamps, cut them off and replace with regular hose clamps...in fact that darn bellows clamp is a PITA too... I replaced it with a regular clamp after about 2 hours of cussing and wondering what to do see what others say but thats my take on the problem I have heard shops are charging as little as 4 hours for this job - they take it out from the tranny side - I came in thru the top side (intakes off) and it was long, but not TOO hard to replace. (I did have to buy new intake o'rings though so that added about $40 to the job (local stealer parts counter)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So you think they are dropping the engine down and doing it from the trans side then.

POST 8Original post

I really dont know, I was told it is a 10 hour job, but I have seen/heard of people/places getting it done in a lot less time... If a shop is fast enough, maybe they drop the tranny? or just lower the motor down to the cross member and gain the added space.... there is a guy I know who did it from tranny side, but the tranny was out for replacement. Not sure if it can be done by just lowering the motor (and he clamied it was still a PITA) are you thinking of getting a quote or DIY? (easy to call and ask how much....)

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm gonna do it myself. Can you get to the hose clamps easier or is the whole thing just hard.
