Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello - my black 99 C4 has the Sport Classic 2 pc wheels that currently have the centers painted silver/grey . The centers are in good shape but the wheel lips are crappy looking.
So I know I want to refinish the wheel lips by polishing them . But I am mentally struggling with what to do with the wheel centers . Obvious choices is paint/powder coat/Cerakote in black or any other color . But what about stripping the centers and polishing them ? Any of you guys done this ? Did you clear coat after polishing ?
This is the first black car I have ever owned so new territory for me . I am torn between polished lip with black centers or fully polished . Pics of what you have is appreciated . And finally what about brake dust cleanup ? Does one finish do better than another ? Yes I know some pads are cleaner than others .
Personally, I wouldnt polish the centers. Paint them silver, grey, black, whatever, bout the shiny polished center looks out of place on 996s, IMO. No disrespect to Millennium edition owners.

^^^ Yeah the cleaning has me leaning to black centers with polished lip . But I don't want an all black car so some contrast is good . I guess I need to start looking at pics of black 911's for inspiration 😁
FWIW Gunmetal grey metallic looks really nice on these and handles dirt/brake dust really well (and there are many subtle shade variations). Gold can be really nice too - if youre into that (not really my cup o tea). I did have my wheels re- finished a few years ago, but decided to go with the original color.
Powder coat them then ceramic coat in the color of your choice my preference would be metallic grey or stocksh silver
but Ive seen black that looks very cool
