Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone know the part number (or OEM part number) for the washer for a 987 6MT transmission drain plug ? I have not been able to identify it. Or if anyone can confirm that there’s no washer needed so I can stop looking, that would be great too. My car is a 2012 Cayman if it matters. I’m also looking into getting a magnetic drain plug , so if you have recommendations, I’d be happy to hear them. If you happen to know the stock transmission drain plug part number, maybe I can identify which LN Engineering plug works with my car. I’m looking to do a transmission fluid change soon and trying to gather all the supplies.

POST 2Original post

FWIW, no washer needed (and my 987.1 5MT didn't have any). Double check though.

POST 3Original post

Thank you! I will double check but I guess no one mentioning one wherever I look for this job means that none is expected.

POST 4Original post

Ordering parts needed for my upcoming gearbox oil change, but one parts supplier calls for a 22 X 1.5mm drain plug , while another calls 16.5 X 1.5mm drain plug . I watch one video where they call for a 10mm hex, another calls for a T55 triple-square bit. Mine is a 2008 Boxster base, 5MT. If anyone has the correct info, I would appreciate sharing it. Thanks.

POST 5Original post

FWIW, I was in your shoes....and was T55 (my friend bought T55 for his 2008 BS 6MT but his was a HEX, and gave the T55 to me) - mine is 2005 2.7 5MT. Do not remember 100% but you may be able to look through to see which one. My transmission type (per PIWIS VAL) is G8701
