I took the filter apart and took a magnet to it to check for metal flacks.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So with all the posts on the IMS issue and that fact that I just bought it two weeks ago I got everything together and changed the oil on the old girl. I took the filter apart and took a magnet to it to check for metal flacks. No metal but I did find some black plastic in the filter...do I need to worry?

POST 2Original post

I am by no means an expert, but this could be stringers from a gasket or "bumpers" for the timing chains....sorry for poor nomenclature

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its my first Porsche, is this bad?

POST 4Original post

No worry. Hard plastic black or brown bits are chain tensioner material. Crème or brown colored rubbery bits are left over sealant. A small amount of either is normal. If you see this, then you need to worry (a lot);

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks thstone. That even looks bad...
