Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I picked mine up and within 50 miles it had the computer telling me to check the oil and it was on minimum (Not impressed; I'm speaking to the dealer tomorrow!) But, how much roughly do they use?
Leading evidence: 'Check oil and it was' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check oil and it was' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I am currently looking at a Cargraphic system for mine but if I have the ECU remapped I think I will start to run into problems should I need to make a warranty claim
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've just spent the weekend wizzing around Wales in my new '52 996 Turbo. What an awesome car; I absolutely adore it!
I've got a couple of questions:
1) - It's got PCM II but doesn't appear to have the phone module. E.G if I plug my SIM card into the slot it just says "Phone Not Available" Was it possible to order the PCM Navigation without the phone? If it was, does anyone know if I can get the phone part retrospectivly activated?
2) - The car is still under the Porsche warranty, and I intend to keep renewing it. I'd love a sports exhaust of some sort (I've come from a V8 so I do miss some nose!) From what I understand, Porsche don't do them for the 996 Turbo so you have to go aftermarket. Does this automatically void the warranty from Porsche if I do this?
3) - How much oil do they drink? I picked mine up and within 50 miles it had the computer telling me to check the oil and it was on minimum (Not impressed; I'm speaking to the dealer tomorrow!) But, how much roughly do they use? I had to fill up with some GTX 10/40 Castol as no Mobil 1 was available in darkest Wales - this shouldn't damage the car should it?
Apologies for all the questions - but I figured you guys were the best for the answers!
Thanks
Nick

It was possible to have PCM without phone and it can be retro fitted, however this is NOT cheap as the fibre optic cable takes a fair bit of running.
Porsche say max oil consumption 1.5 litres in 1000 km I dont think you will use that though.

Hi Nick and welcome.
First question - I think some of the earlier PCM phone modules only work with O2 and Vodaphone, Might be wrong though
Second question - After market exhausts are obviously not covered under the Porsche warranty but Porsche cannot invalidate the warranty if the bits that fail are not caused by your additions. I am currently looking at a Cargraphic system for mine but if I have the ECU remapped I think I will start to run into problems should I need to make a warranty claim
Third question - If driven enthusiastically mine can get through a litre of Mobils finest every 1000 - 1500 miles.

Thanks for the replies and welcome.
I'll try a Vodafone SIM card, I've got one at home to double-check. Then, I guess it's a visit to an OPC to see how expensive a retro-fit might be.
I was also looking at the Cargraphic exhausts, they look really good.
I think it's possible the oil was just not checked pre-delivery. I was surprised, as it went through a 111-point check at an OPC.

Welcome to the club nickd01.
I didn't know the Comms system could only work with Voda or o2. I put in a Virgin sim in mine and it wasn't recognising it.

I just spoke to the indy I bought the car from and they say a similar story for the phone. Looks like Vodafone is the way forward as a definitive test.
Thanks chaps.

I've been told by a previous C4S owner that Voda also do duplicate SIM cards; no need for you to take your SIM out of your Vodafone mobile and place in the drawer or even put your mobile on divert (though I guess for many, the latter will be the only choice).

Hhmm, I tried the Voda card last night and it still just says "Phone Not Available" whenever I press a phone related button.
Maybe a trip to the OPC is needed already?!

This may sound stupid but how long did you leave the phone to "boot up" for? My phone will not work for about a minute once the ignition is switched on.

I actually didn't turn the ignition on at all. I just turned the PCM Screen on and went from there. Maybe it actually needs the ignition on? That'd be embarrasing....!

Well, I've tried it with the ignition on and still no joy.
Neither the phone or the text button works - both saying Phone Not Available.
Looks like a visit to an OPC to sort it out, what a pain!
Thanks for all the help
