Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 5Original post

That sounds identical to how my 987.1 2.7 Cayman when the dual mass flywheel started failing. Have you looked into that at all?

POST 6Original post

My 987.1 had a very similar tick/knock several years ago, turned out to be three header nuts that weren't properly torqued after some exhaust work had been done- too loose... The noise sounded just like yours and I thought for sure it was a bad rod bearing, hope that isn't the case with yours. Also, I get a slight lifter tick which always goes away with driving which will occur if I haven't' driven the car for more than a month or so.. I'm hoping you didn't run out of enough oil to starve the bearings with that leak because the most common cause of rod bearing failure is oil starvation. Did the noise start soon after some high RPM driving?
