Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just used Kurust then painted it with smooth hammerite (silver) that roughly matches my arctic silver 996.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to see the 996 today whilst its being prepped for pick up at the dealers i noticed a rust spot at the bottom of the passenger front wheel arch where the sill meets the wheel arch has anyone experienced this? looks like stone chips thats not been treated

POST 2Original post

Yes, I've had the same on the offside front arch, but I've just treated it and painted it and in 4 years it's not reappeared. Should be galvanised so shouldn't spread, I hope!

POST 3Original post

Just a couple of weeks since this: https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.asp?m=878596

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It looks a lot like those pictures nigh on the same John..how did you treat it?

POST 5Original post

Is that caused by stone-chip damage, do you think? I was thinking of Waxoyling the old girl before things get going (galvanising doesn't last forever). I guess a dab of Hammerite would do the job?

POST 6Original post

I just used Kurust then painted it with smooth hammerite (silver) that roughly matches my arctic silver 996.

POST 7Original post

Have found the same problem, tried hamerite but living in a rural area, the roads have a lot of very aggressive stones on the roads that chip away at the paint as soon as its applied. Going to try some clear 3M film on the area, if it works on helicopter blades think my wheel arch will be given a bit of protection with the film.

POST 8Original post

What a coincidence, last night I touched up both front wheel arches in exactly the same areas, primer, touch up paint and loads of lacquer. Model is 2002 turbo
