You are right it is 5 years old this year and the last service while classified as as 36,000 it was the minor maint service which replaced bits like Spark plugs and drive belt, particle filter, brake fluid etc.

Suggestion
If you did not get your oil, oil filter and pollen filter changed last year (not done on an annual check) then you should do it this year even if you are being offered another annual check (I would get my annual check stamp and get it done at an Indi).
Leading evidence: 'minor maint service' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'minor maint service' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check (i would get my annual' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If that is the case then you are due a major 4th year service this year which would include as per your service log book: airbag system check; brake fluid change; long-life guarantee inspection and stamp; etc...

So that should have been an annual check last year or a minor service if you asked for it, is that right?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's the general view on the above, my car has only covered 3,000 miles (20K total miles from new!) since the last service which was done as a 36,000 mile service. Speaking to my OPC the recommendation was to have the Annual check.
Now while the car has Mobil 1 which according to the recent briefing given at Reading OPC by the Mobil man is good for lots of miles, I'm a little concerned should I get the oil changed or not.
If it helps my car tends to be driven most weekends and some times used for office journey, plus as last week an annual blast to somewhere in France!
Views please, but not why don't you use it more!
Under the circumstances, I would go for the Annual. The oil will be fine for a couple of years if you only do 3000 miles a year. You can always get an interim change by an indy (or OPC) if you find yourself doing more miles than planned.
What is the age? If you did the 36K service last year and you have very low miles then it would have been the 3rd annual service as you would not be going by miles (just years). So that should have been an annual check last year or a minor service if you asked for it, is that right?
If that is the case then you are due a major 4th year service this year which would include as per your service log book: airbag system check; brake fluid change; long-life guarantee inspection and stamp; etc...

Some people (low mileage Porsches) have been given an annual check in the 4th year but I have always been told that you can only substitute the annual check for a minor service every other year and not for the major service...
I assumed that if the car is a 2002 (per signature) then the 2 and 4 year additional work and checks would have been done in 2006. If not, Kish is correct that they need doing. Also, I assumed that the 36K service you had done was the 36K service which would include an oil change, not just an Annual inspection.
That is what confused me; according to the MY it should have been the 4 years service last year which should have been equivalent to the 48K not 36K...
According to the service book:
Minor at 12K, 36K, 60K, 84K, etc
if the mileage has not reached then 2,6,10 ... years. So year 1,3,5, etc can be annual checks?
Major at 24K, 48K, 72K, 96K, etc
if the mileage has not reached then 4,8,12 ... years
I think we are both getting confused by calling the last service a 36K. In fact it is a Minor Maintenance Service, which is normally carried out at 12K, 36K, 60K etc. I think what the OPC are saying is that it had a Minor (12K) last time, so an Annual would be fine this time, and the first Major (24K) will be due next time. Again, I assume that the 2 and 4 year checks were done at the appropriate time, not mileage.
Thanks Guy's
You are right it is 5 years old this year and the last service while classified as as 36,000 it was the minor maint service which replaced bits like Spark plugs and drive belt, particle filter, brake fluid etc. The prior service was classified as 24,000, so I think consensus is I go for the Annual check over!
