Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Do you think that they will continue their good run of depreciation, or will they start to nose dive now that 997 are becoming more readily available on the second hand market?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I used to have a 996 C4 about a year ago - so I know the usual horrors to look out for, extended warranty, RMS, front rads corroding at the bottom, expansion tank, etc etc.... Looking at a C4S now - so need a bit of guidance. I have kept a keen eye on their value over the last 12 months and they have seemed to have held at around the 40K mark. Do you think that they will continue their good run of depreciation, or will they start to nose dive now that 997 are becoming more readily available on the second hand market? The thing is - I prefer the look of the 996 C4S, to the 997, am I alone here or does anyone else agree? I had my C4 for a year and got my money back when I sold it (I was very lucky - I know!), I totally accept that I will loose money on most cars, but I have managed to very well over the years and want to continue if poss. What spec is preferable - I'm assuming the following:- -silver with blue or black leather -manual -not more than 40,000 miles -Porsche Extended Warranty -switchable sports exhaust (a must!!) -sat nav (but not essential) -sports suspension Have I missed anything out? I've seen one for sale with a very similar spec for 40K - is this about right? Cheers Simon
