So the glass doesn't crack or break under stress, Porsche build the car using a bond between glass roof and metal side that has some 'give' so that stresses and movement is not transferred to the glass.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've decided to sell my F10 M5 and am looking for a 991 GTS. What are the must have options? I definitely want the GTS package, sports exhaust PDK, but what else should I look for? If anyone is looking to sell their GTS, please drop me a line. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

It's a great car and wants for little. I also came from a F10 to a new 991 GTS and am still over the moon. You've already gone for 2 of my must haves - GTS interior and PDK. The sports exhaust is standard. The following are just nice to haves but I love them: Sports steering wheel in alcantara - looks and feels so cool (avoid MF wheel). PDLS+ in black. Expensive option but in the dark, it's better than any other lighting system - I'm so glad I ticked that box. Heated seats - because I'm a softie 18 way or 4 way seats (I went with 18), both have same seat shape. I couldn't get comfy in 14 ways which seem to be made for people of excess weight.

POST 4Original post

Must say Demon that looks stunning. 991 GTS ticks a lot of boxes. AP seemed to hint that the gen2 will indeed be turbo in his interview with Top Gear - I had long thought there was a chance they may keep it NA but dont mind admitting was totally wrong!!

POST 5Original post

991.2 GTS will be turbo, it's a mainstream model with options.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank for the replies guys. Love that red! What was the price of these new with a few must have options? Were dealers offering decent discounts when ordered new?

POST 7Original post

SPASM, had it on my last 991 and really miss out on my GTS..

POST 8Original post

SAG6Y said: Thank for the replies guys. Love that red! What was the price of these new with a few must have options? Were dealers offering decent discounts when ordered new? £95k to £100k with a few boxes ticked from memory although I got over £100k with the spec I wanted....could easily get close to £110k if you weren't careful.

POST 9Original post

More like £105k in basic spec. Not sure there were many discounts until recently.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 13Original post

I spent a lot of time agonising over spec and ended up deciding on Black and Orange as my theme. Outrageous exterior and toned down interior (I am not an Alcantera fan). I love the car and it gets loads of compliments. In hindsight my only tweak might have been to add Carbon brakes. No way can you spec something decent for £100k... The Duck Tail is epic looking and I too have been shocked by the lack of depreciation of GTS cars - had someone offer to buy my car when I was out in it one day... POST 14Original post

I'm on my second gts. got one march 15 and swapped it a couple of weeks ago for another. did 16k miles in the last, done 2 k miles already in this one. first one had regular pasm, new one has sports pasm. the new one is much better controlled when being enthusiastic and feels like a sports car for more of the time. old car had 4 way seats and the new one has the 18 way. the old seats set a little lower. old car was manual, new one is pdk. old car had ceramics, new one has steels. steels feel better but the ride is jiggly and the wheels feel heavy. would prefer ceramics. old car had panoramic roof and that ruined the whole car. Thats the sole reason why I got rid of that car, new car has steel roof and is sooo much better.

Thats the sole reason why I got rid of that car, new car has steel roof and is sooo much better. ooh interesting post. Some questions if you would. I was specifically looking for a glass roof car because I felt it would brighten up the whole cabin and would create a nicer environment for when kids are in the back Why did you think it ruined the car? Which do you prefer, manual or PDK and why? Can you really feel a difference in the weight of the wheels? Is this not a placebo? Are they jiggly just because of the brakes or is it also down to the SPASM?

POST 16Original post

I generally buy manual, I have several porsches and they are all manual. I am giving pdk 'a try' although I don't really want to like it. But I have to accept that it is a very good gearbox. I find myself in auto with all modes quiet while just knocking around town and in manual and sport mode (not sport plus) when I'm on free er roads. It is a very good 'box, but not as involving as a manual. I find myself driving much harder with the pdk than I would in a manual because it's so easy to keep the revs singing and so easy to brake really deep and still get the down changes in. I can feel the weight of the steel discs on rutted and broken and patched urban roads at urban speeds. The wheels can't react fast enough. Once up to pace on open rural roads the difference is hardly noticeable. in other words the steels have a detrimental effect on fast bump in comparison to the ceramics. That bloody panoramic roof pissed me right off. Yes it makes the cabin light and airy and the rhodium silver car with the black roof and black wheels looked ace and yes I could open the roof or just tilt it to let some air and noise in. BUT BUT BUT BUT it ruins the car. So the glass doesn't crack or break under stress, Porsche build the car using a bond between glass roof and metal side that has some 'give' so that stresses and movement is not transferred to the glass. So the car ends up with a soft and squidgy bodyshell. The body had more twist in it than my old Boxster S !! My current Boxster is far more stiff (body shell) than the 991 with glass roof. My new gts with metal roof feels as rock solid and well built as you'd expect a porsche to be.

Interesting about your sunroof comment. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Most of the cars currently for sale have the sunroof.

POST 19Original post

SAG6Y said: Interesting about your sunroof comment. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Most of the cars currently for sale have the sunroof. That is very interesting but I doubt there are many people that have owned more than one GTS and of those I suspect if you wanted the roof the first time a lot would have it the second time.

POST 20Original post

SAG6Y said: Most of the cars currently for sale have the sunroof. And owners without the sunroof are happy to keep their cars. Perhaps. Whether you can live with a sunroof, convertible or not, only you'll know. Personally, I don't read a lot in the car so don't need the light from the glass roof, and in any event, I question why the whole roof is covered in glass when it's only the aperture panel that lets daylight through. I think that huge glass covering spoils the look of the car unless the car is black. It's very subjective. Good job there's lots of options to satisfy all. I went for sunroof delete and loads of deviating stitching and love it although I know many could care less.

POST 23Original post

I have a black GTS: PDLS+ LED Headlights are brilliant (I am getting on a bit at 44 so helps me see at night) Full alcantara and styling package (which I think sadly added around £4k to price) but means pretty much every surface is either leather or alcantara Alcantara wheel - much better than leather BOSE 18-way seats are great Phone / bluetooth etc I think is standard The Sport + crazy mode is great. I think of it as normal, scary and mad, in sport+ it is insane to drive, just brilliant. I thought I would miss 4-wheel drive but not at all, this is much preferable. I prefer the subtlety of not having the permanent spoiler so mine has the standard retractable In black with black GTS letters and black letters on the back it is quite anonymous which is how I like it. I drove this back to back with a new 4S with the turbo engine and the 4S felt awful, the turbo engine is not a patch on the one in the GTS. From memory mine came in at around £110,000 new.

I don't think OPC's got two Targa GTS's at most didn't they ? I don't know what the % of manual to PDK GTS's are but judging by the AUC site manual 991's are rare full stop and I reckon most people that want a manual are more likely to go Coupe as it's seen as being more of the drivers choice...less weight than a 4wd Targa. Based on a guesstimate of there being 60 Targa GTS's in the UK I definitely reckon lass than 5 would be manual

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was good value for 90k. Got all the spec I wanted. All the alcantata, deviated stitching, 18 way adjustable seats, cruise. Body needs a bit work - front end resprayed and side haunches. Hence it'll take 2 weeks. Going to be a long wait!! Each to their own, but I avoided the ducktail spoiler. I love the purity of the flat design and the black louvres. Very 991R.

Yup. Just stone chips. They've assured me look as close to perfect as possible. Really can't wait!

POST 55Original post

I'm a little surprised that such a new car would warrant so much paint for stone chips? Great looking car though. Well done.

POST 56 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You and me both. It was quite worrying to think how the car had been treated. The final finish is perfect though. GTS's seem to be quite thin on the ground and this was the perfect spec for me.

POST 57Original post

I've thought hard about having PPF on my Gts but cost just too high. Have chips and off for long weekend hoon with pals next weekend so no doubt going to add to paint marks

POST 58Original post

Absolutely love mine. I had intended having PPF applied before driving the 200 miles home but then a change of plan meant I had to rethink. It then became apparent that once home there were no recommended companies close by. I'd have to drive another 100 miles and chance stone chips before getting it done. So, no film for me. Quite rare on the GTS but bucket seats were a must for me together with PASM (20mm lower suspension). The LED headlights, glass roof and ducktail etc were nice to have. No idea why some people un-tick the centre lock wheels, they make the car. And they're a breeze to remove once you have the right tool (a bloody big torque wrench!).

POST 60Original post

The colour was a no-brainer for me. Why do so many people order silver and black 911's? That's all you see in most showrooms.

POST 61Original post

Had mine done last year, no regrets The black wheels just disappear into the arches, especially on a black car, and the orange brake dust was driving me nuts!

POST 63Original post

Its called 'RS White Gold 539' or more usually 'Weiss Gold'. You find it on GT2RS etc. Its a pale gold colour, not silver. I think id go for a dark silver colour maybe for your car?

POST 68Original post

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice. Currently drive a 991.2 GTS which is great but love driving new cars and want to try something else. I use the car daily but put only 5/6k miles a year. No kids but back seats are useful for the occasional 3rd person or bags. Is there anything which I should consider that can be used daily or is sticking with the 911 the smart choice. Recently got the centre locks painted GT Silver. (Cant make my mind up about the stripe - easy to remove)

POST 69Original post

If you don't have kids you really ought to branch into something 2-seater before kids come along and it just becomes that much harder to justify a 2 seater. Thoughts AMG GTS Aston Vantage 991 GT3 Touring

Thoughts AMG GTS Aston Vantage 991 GT3 Touring I had an AMG GTS earlier this year. Didn't gel with it like 911. Never driven a Vantage but had a 2014 Vanquish which I loved but didnt enjoy it in Winter. 991 GT3 Touring would be ideal, but more than I would be looking to spend. I want to be in the £80-£110k region.

My brother had a touring in gt silver with platinum wheels and it looked epic. GTS looks great in GT silver, mines graphite blue and black rims suit the colour tbh. Bit quicker than the GT4 isn’t it!

Finally got round to painting the wheels. Satin Platinum as per GT3/4. I think it looks great. Also now on Cup2's with upgraded Girodisc brakes. Was on track for the first time on Friday, the car is mega. Way quicker than my old GT4. These GTS's are such a great all round car, great daily, fab for touring and very impressive on track. What more do you need?

My last 911 was a 997 GTS 2wd manual so this will need to be good. Crayon looks great especially with the contrast roof. I get it but for me, 7 owners for a car this age would make me think twice.

Someone needs to love and use Minty now as she isn't appreciating in price. I recall her being up for sale in the early 100k and the £90's and there's barely any miles been put on the car in that time. I'm a bit shocked by the £75k price tag as that feel low for a PTS car at that mileage. I remember seeing it new in the showroom at Silverstone and it is a stunning car both inside and out. I really hope the new owner enjoys and piles the miles on.

I bought my 991.1 GTS from Romans at the same time Minty was sold - the spec was incredible. First owner lost a fortune - £134k new! Every single option ticked (no Aerokit) which makes the car feel special inside - Agate Grey, Ceramics, Burmester, extended leather etc etc - only isue has been the PADM, one of which failed with only 15k miles.

I don’t think the colour works on Minty to be honest….there’s a mint green 997.2 GT3 in the UK which looks awesome. For some reason the more aggressive stance of GT cars means bright colours work much better,

I've been watching 991.2's for several months now, with a view to getting a low milage one to use lightly as a 'weekend' 3rd car, and to keep/use as a small man maths "investment" (BIG deposit currently sat in the bank earning f k all interest so why not use it and get some fun from it). But the OPC prices seem to be all over the place due to the chip shortage and lead times. Cars have gone up £5k-£10k since January, and there appears to be no consistency in regards to price v spec v year v milage. The only thing that appears to be a 'must have' is the glass sunroof. Cars without it have seemingly stuck around, but there might be other reasons (which drew me to this thread as it appears in a google search on GTS specs). Just a few examples of the weird price range... 05/2017 - 20k miles - £88k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 08/2017 - 15k miles - £93k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 03/2018 - 11k miles - £99k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 03/2018 - 11k miles - £93.5k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 03/2018 - 17k miels - £90k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 05/2018 - 8k miles - £95k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... 03/2019 - 11k miles - £95k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT... Having plugged the reg numbers into WBAC etc (I know, I know, these are only guidelines), some aren't far off the current auction values and some are miles off, but even then it feels very speculative rather indicative market value pricing. In my head I'm sold on Miami/Crayon/Lava with glass roof, rev camera, LED's and a few other small items, but I fear it's too risky to make the jump in if I ever want to see the cash I'd put down as a deposit, ever again.

POST 103Original post

I had a simialr experience when I bought my 991.2 GTS in October last year. I had an embarrassingly geeky excel spreadsheet going and tracked about 50 991.2 GTS cars on the porsche finder over a few months, looking at spec, miles, prices etc. What i noticed was that the cars with both GTS packs, glass roof, LEDs, Bose and cruise control seemed to disappear very quickly. Surpisingly, a huge number of cars didn't have both GTS packs although i know that alcantara and an extra £5k is not up everyone's alley so as to speak. I tracked the prices and sometimes cars would change by £5k overnight. Miami and crayon seemed to be the rarest colours at the time. I ended up pouncing on late 2017 crayon with 12k on the clock for £85k, which was very well specced with all of the above and burmester sound, 18 way seats which i wouldn't have specced myself. But as you observe, prices seem to have increased considerably since then. Perhaps £5 to £10k extra in some cases which fits with what you said. Either way, it's worth waiting for the right car i think irrespective of current market dynamcics because that's what you will appreciate everytime you get in the car. Because i was tracking all the cars it meant that when the right one popped up i could go for it immediately and not get FOMO !

Hi I’ve been reading this post with interest…two weeks ago I bought a low miles GTS pdk and pretty happy with it. My only criteria when looking was ..no sunroof as could be trouble in long term (and ac brilliant on these cars) and no red rev counter as it looks naff to me.. funny how individual taste differs . Only done 600ish miles but compared to my old 991s ( which I really liked ) the performance is in another dimension. The old 3.8 engine was a masterpiece of engineering in all conditions , even slogging through the city the easy throttle control made a satisfying drive. The new 3.0 car surprises me sometimes by dropping into 6th at 30mph! and feeling bit rough at very low revs. My old car would never attempt that keeping the revs slightly higher before change up. In my short ownership I’m very satisfied and looking good for some summer fun. Edited by Polome on Wednesday 30th June 08:41 Edited by Polome on Wednesday 30th June 18:05

I made an appointment to visit a dealer this morning that had 2 in stock. One well specced, one basic (no sunroof, no interior pack etc). My conclusions have swayed my personal judgements on 'options'. 1. Glass Roof - must have (for me) 2. LED headlights - no longer bothered, given it'll be a 3rd/weekend car, especially as you get the '4 dots' on the xenons anyway 3. BOSE - no longer bothered, standard system is adequate enough. 4. Reversing Camera - on the fence with this one. Not a deal breaker but a nice too have 5. Miami Blue is now my number one colour choice. What a colour in the metal! So much nicer than pictures demonstrate. ... and the big one. Having not been bothered about the car having the GTS interior package, this is now a 'must have' for me. The car felt so much more special and premium than the standard interior car. Each time I got in and out the alcantara elements, the carbon trim, the stitching, the colour highlights added so much more to the car's feel. Price wise, lots of normal dealer bulls t about 'not a penny off' etc, but when discussing numbers the reality showed there is some wiggle room in price. I'll be a call this week to a few finance brokers on a few cars currently for sale, to see if I can get close to my target price. The dealer said that they would try to match any broker quote, but we'll see.

In use I have found it a perfect compromise for me and my last two pork were full verts. Its airy when closed and quiet when open. The 993 sunroofs I had were terrible with booming. The two GTS interior packs are my preferred option for the reasons you highlight and for sure a GTS without leather dash is harder to sell although leather interior does sell if the colour is ok. Miami is a marmite colour I quite like it but those on my straw poll didnt but i have noticed GTS in this colour are slow to move so if you go for it bid them in the nuts. The Miami rear seat delete GTS at Wolverhampton OPC seems unsaleable ( due to the rear seat delete I think) Bose is one of the resale options.

I collected this 991.2 C4GTS 6 weeks ago having sold my Boxster GTS. Sunroof, GTS interior, RAS, BOSE, PDLS, reversing camera, 18-way seats. Loving the broad power delivery with the turbo engine compared to the ‘all top end’ power in the Boxster. MrsH much happier as well, likes speed/power but not the high revs that went with it. Sunroof gives the cabin a nice airy feel, particularly when just tilted open and the sports exhaust makes just the right noises (for me anyway), the BGTS was a tad embarrassing at times. The rear spoiler rises at 60mph but with the sunroof open it rises a bit more at 80mph (apparently). One small surprise so far is fuel economy; a typical stop/start trip in ‘normal mode’ round the M25 returned 39mpg! The photo doesn’t do the colour justice.

Looks lovely, and a nice spec too, especially with the RAS and PDLS! I know it's a 4GTS rather than a GTS that I'm looking for, but do you mind me asking what year/milage it is, OPC or Indi, and what you actually gave for it? Thanks, that certainly puts into perspective current 'punchy' prices being asked for much lesser vehicles! What was the screen price?

I’d driven 2 hours to see a bright blue 911 on a beautiful sunny day, there was never going to be much movement from the screen price.

Lava Orange GTS? I'm no Porsche geek, but there's a Lava Orange 3.8 GTS on sale with full Aero kit, looks awesome to me, but what's the must haves? Is the colour too over the top for Porsche fans?

POST 114Original post

Silly question, but, what is one supposed to do if picking up a puncture with the centerlocks? Is it RAC/AA time? Is it possible to retrofit Apple Carplay to a 991.1 with PCM? And... is the cab really that bad?

POST 115Original post

I drive a 2015 911 GTS Cabriolet, and have experience on all your questions. 1. Yes Centrelocks required flatbed to OPC after puncture on M23 2. If you are under warranty you will need to wait for Porsche to offer CarPlay as its only available aftermarket and will invalidate warranty if fitted. Porsche have offered it on 996 but no news when I enquired a few months ago 3. My cabriolet is Carmine Red and a stunning car to drive, plus you get the benefit of listening to the amazing sports exhaust of the n/a engine in the open air.

POST 116Original post

Thanks Cyb. Does an aftermarket CarPlay kit invalidate the whole warranty, or just the PCM/electronics?

Yes but it doesn't matter whether you have centerlocks or standard 5-stud wheels, either way you'll need assistance as these cars do not carry a spare wheel. Mind you, if one is feeling lucky, there's a can of sealant and compressor in the frunk.

Has anyone moved from a 718 GT4 to a 991.1 GTS? I'm considering the switch, as my partner strongly dislikes the GT4. I have a manual, Clubsport car, it's a weekend/fun car only and I purchased in May and have done 7k miles already, as a weekend car and a trip to Southern France. My partner drives my cars and likes coming on road trips with me, but she doesn't like driving the GT4 or the flamboyant nature of it's looks I'm looking at swapping to a 991.1 GTS PDK

Cyb1967 said: Just the PCM Warranty I have a 2015 GTS Cab with 13k miles. Earlier this year the car had a new replacement PCM fitted under warranty. I suspect there was a hard drive error causing the PCM to keep rebooting. No quibble on the replacement.
