Hi Guys
Can I ask your advice, this part failed my MOT test for me today
I had the rear coffin arms made by
Meyle
replaced on my
boxster
September 23, and I have only completed 2565 miles since having them fitted.
Just out of warranty.
Looks almost lie it was separated with a "Pickle Fork" at some point?
Did they accidentally put a front on the back and/or a back on the front and ten take them back apart?
Is it possible it was damaged during the repair and they missed the flaw or assembled it anyway? Improper torque spec? Lots of possibilities.
Hi Guys
Do rear coffin arms come in right and left hand configuration?
Talking with the test centre guy this morning who was inspecting the car, he said it was a techie using a tuning fork type ball joint splitter……I can see that point of view if the parts are left and right hand and the specialist repair techie installed one of the coffin arms on the wrong side.
Looks like fork damage to me, not a defect. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you guys
Interesting that the opinion seems to be Pickle Fork damage, going over my
Porsche
specialist invoices from the last couple of months, the suspension was checked by the specialist, this was checked because of the car suspension was creaking when I pushed down on the cars wing front and rear, I specifically asked for" the suspension components to be checked on the underside"
And more recently again I asked for the car to be checked as I noticed lack of response from the steering....drop links and and inner and outer track rods and track rod ends were replaced, along with the rear drop links
Sounds like I might have found the answer........what do you think guys?
Here, is another issue picked up by the tester, US driver side, rear drive shaft CV Boot inner leaking grease after repair, again the repair was completed by the same specialist, which is a great shame as I regarded this particular
Porsche
specialist with high regard
A friend is a guilded, Toyota master tech, I don’t even know what that title means. He is working in a peripheral business now. Why? He told me he had to manage niwits who were without the proper skills to wrench but hired at dealerships all over Atlanta. He said they were shockingly unprepared for even simple jobs.
MoT inspections amaze me. How are either of those safety issues? Here in the great state of California (and I mean that) I can drive a frame rusted, brakes failing wreck of a car and as long as it passes Smog I’m good. There’s no safety inspection. Other states do have them though.
